Oh yes, ZX81, C16, C64. So on and so on. My first console was a megadrive though, Quite late to the console gaming world.
assumption is the mother of all f**k ups
Yes, I started with the ZX Spectrum probably around 1985-86 (with a black and white TV most of the time) and later with PC probably around 1989. I may have played consoles at friends' places too.

the zx81 was a joke machine...lol. the spectrum got a bit better but i hated that squidgy keyboard. |
Yeah those rubber keys were naff. Spectrum had a couple of cool games, but my faves were on commodore.
First EA game I ever played was on the C64. I thought they were such a cool gaming company back then.
We sure made our way through a lot of joysticks back then, probably had to buy a new one nearly every 6 months. The reliability of controllers these days compard to joysticks back then shows us there is an upside to the saying "they don't make 'em like they used to".

Got a NES in 89 with Mario Bros 1 & 2 and a few other games that I don't really remember that well (I was 5).
Also had an Amstrad with games like Back to the Future and Batman (the one based on the movie).

Yes. My very first memories all pretty much involve me playing video games.
My parents owned 2 systems before I was born. The 2600 and the Astrocade.
Why i'm not sure... neither actually played it, and I swear, the Atari collection had about 20 games.

You sound just like me...
I think what really got me to tell my mom that i wanted a NES was... the Zelda commercial... ZELDA!!!... ZEELLLLLLLLDDDAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

I was like WTF is that, I MUST PLAY THAT ( never ending)
she picked it up at Toys R us for my birthday.
I did get my first NES when it came out but it wasn't just mine ( cousins and it was at their house) but after the zelda commercial... that was the last straw lol
