Has there ever been a must have toy 2 years in a row, cause its pretty impressive if the Wii was the first. Does anyone know how the supply/demand for the PS2 was in its first 2 years? I remember it being sold out for its first christmas but am not sure after that. I remember the supply constraint on XBOX360 lasting from November till April/May.

i dont think ps2 was supply constrained in its second christman but it sure was a very hot product to have

yeah i dont think any product was ever sold out for 1 year,except maybe ds lite in japan(dont know if that was sold out for a year)

You can't really generalize it with other toys too, because it's a game system with expandable features and new games...

 Im not sure about Elmo, I remember it being hot for one year, but not for the next. DIfferent iterations of the Elmo have done well.

 Last year those pricks at Fisher Price pulled some shit.......they supply constrained Tickle me Elmo Xtreme 10th anniversary during 99% of the holiday season. They were going on Ebay for $300-500 a piece. all the news outlets were talking about how it was the "hot toy" of the season. I go into Toys R Us around the 20-23rd of December and there is a GIANT pile of TMX's going for retail price, 1 per customer. I went home and checked prices on Ebay and no one was bidding on them for more than retail. It was a damn setup.

 I, dont remember how well the Cabbage patch dolls sold or the NES....I was too young. I d remeber that I got my NES during the non Christmas season, and that Christman I got Kid Icarus and Metroid. Good times those were.
