Forums - Nintendo - I've never played Pikmin. What's the deal?

I've seen some pics and videos here and there, but I still don't get the idea. What do you do in Pikmin, what's the point?

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

The plot of Pikmin 1 is that you crash land on a strange planet and have 30 in game days in which to collect enough pieces of your spaceship to get it working again

The plot of pikmin 2 is that you are looting for treasure.

So both revolve around using pikmin to carry items back to your base. You can get more pikmin bykilling monsters and taking the corpses back to your base.

You control the game as Olimar (in Pikmin 1) or Olimar and Louie (Pikmin 2) You can then order or throw the pikmin around in order to get past monsters or obstacles.

There are 3/5 types of pikmin in games 1 and 2 respectively and they each have different abilities

It is an RTS, but not a generic starcraft rip off type of RTS

thanks!

Sounds like a strategy game, not exactly my type, or at least, I'm not very good at stragety games.

You're welcome!

If you want to get into it, I recommend Pikmin 2 if strategy games aren't your forte. Its not easier as such (infact, 100% completition of Pikmin 2 is VERY difficult) but it has no time limit, which really takes the pressure off
