I don't know about Microsoft, its been pretty well at its limit, for a few years, But I agree Sony built a great console to last, Bluray, 3D compatable, Motion control, and a very powerful system, 2016 may be a little far, maybe 2014-2015, but I am very happy with what I am playing on, and will be happy for a few more years, even if Sony brings out a ps4 in 2013-2014, I think they would still support Ps3 for a few more years.

Also the RSX really does not matter any more, Dev for awhile now has had the Cell, doing all graphics work, U2, and some other games, they just use RSX now for small tasks, This is one of the reasons PS3 can do so much.

Earliest i woiuld guess is 2013 but i am looking at more likely late 2014, they just brought out the MOVE also if they release one in 2012 there isnt gonna that major difference (graphic wise) .

Also Sony is suppose to be barely profiting off the PS3 now and its a HOT product

That's bullshit. RSX does >90% of the graphics work. Cell can help in vertex shading, and some post proccesing, at the expense of some latency (that you can hide with pipelining) but not much more.

naaaa new consoles will be out by 2012 or 2013 , they have become vastly outdated and are only holding back the real potential of graphics and frames per second , the pc is able to produce far better visuals and the only reason we arent seeing it lately is because all the love is going to console and held back by their hardware .

im personally tired of the same ol engines being used and like i said before crysis 2 console looks nothing like crysis 2 on pc its so dumbed down its almost laughable also most games that are pushing true hd graphics are running in slower frames and most are either 720p native or lower i dont think that is acceptable when you have a brand new 1080p tv and your console cant play games in true 1080p, i say bringing out new hardware is really the only way to go to truly appreciate the visuals possible by todays standards .

i think if you go with a ps3 you feel a little more ahead of the rest due to the bluray but even then the games are still not true 1080p same goes with 360 , the next consoles at least will be able to push high rez textures in native 1080p running at 60fps but if they wait to long the tvs will just be able to push higher res and well be in the same ugly upscaling predicament we are in now.
