Forums - General - Dead tired from sports and diet.

Here's the deal: I am a big fan of football..er soccer for you US people, and usually play my heart out during matches. However because i am an addict, so to speak, i play a lot during the week. If not counting PE on my university (2 sessions per week, 2 hours each) i also attend school sport circles based around football (add another 2 sessions, 2 hours each) and lastly i also take part in football leagues (one full match per week). I am no athlete, maybe i'm a little quicker than most people but that's it. I'm starting to feel the toll all this excercise has taken on my body. Further still i have lately gone on a diet. Assuming that one pound is aroud two kilograms, then i weighed 170 pounds and have dropped to 142 in somewhat three months, and i'm holding on to this level. I'll add that i'm some 5 feet 9 inches high. What has all this done to me? I'm constantly out of strength to do stuff. Seriously? I never imagined that something as healthy as sports and diets could give one such a headache.

Any experience on your part, people?

2.2 pounds is 1 kilogram. it's a little bit different.

Your tired because your not eating enough calories.  Why diet when you are getting so much exercise?

i used to be a soccer player, i also played indoor soccer. It's tough on your body unless you're really in shape.

With the diet, make sure you're still eating plenty of calories because you'll be burning loads of them. It's not how many calories you eat, it's how healthy the food you eat is.

You need to eat more, with your active lifestyle go for a low fat, high carb diet with some protein thrown in. Your weight is pretty good as is and might even be a bit too low if you have a lot of muscle.

Depending on the days on which you are training/playing you may not be giving your body enough time to recover between workouts. Try scheduling activities every other day and see if the "rest" day in between makes a difference. You can also provide recovery time by exercising alternate muscle groups - focus on legs one day, upper body the next and core the third ...

As others have mentioned be careful that you are not restricting calories too much. Keep to good balanced meals that provide plenty of energy for the exercise and muscle development.

this should not be happening you should lose that kind of weight especially since your no where near being obese you might actually be exercising too much yeah it's possible. Have you been eating less or about the same since you started playing football so much? I'm 5' 10'' 165 and for the the past eight years starting from high school I've been playing football (american) then both indoor and outdoor track. In college it was just indoor and outdoor but it was pretty much a year long season. However I would have practice then lifted or sometimes go for as much as a 5 mile run then go lift. Yet my weight never went down by more then a few pounds in a day. So throughout the year I maintain the same weight.

I'm a sprinter so nothing more than 400m so faster than your average sprinter so I would say I burn I lot of calories the headaches that i got where rare but were mostly for an intense track work outs. Most of that was problem due to the fact that the facility had poor air circulation.

You should always have some type of snack whether it be fruits or chocolate bars and drink water consistently man these things go a long way

142 is pretty thin for 5'9" - you should eat some more. It's not underweight, but I think it's only 10 pounds from it - if you're continuing to lose weight, you should be careful. I've been hovering around that weight most of my life, and if I could gain more weight healthily I would (ridiculous metabolism)

he actually calculated it wrong, he calculated 2 pounds = 1 kilogram instead of 2.2 pounds = 1 kilogram.  So he probably weighs a pretty ideal weight actually.
