Forums - Gaming - What do you prefer - pushing buttons or moving around as a controller?

Both, because I'm good at adapting.

Technically, yes. But I'm thinking more about flailing about in a cramped office or bedroom space, pointing various nicknacks at a tiny (compared to TV's) screen and knocking shit over.

It's a good thing I've never had to "flail" and knock crap over while playing my Wii games other than golf.

(you would think by now that this concept of having to "flail" while playing motion controled games would be dead)

Jesus christ... I was making an example and never mentioned Wii games once in my post. I have played a lot of Wii games myself and I know you don't have to flail about, it does, however, require a lot more space than pressing buttons on a keyboard and moving the mouse. I just can't see any good reason to implement it on PC with the (usual) cramped space, small screen and overall unsuited nature of the gaming platform itself.

It extends to the future PSWand and Natal. I don't have any other motion controlled games, hence why I stated Wii. I also don't know any other motion controlled devices for PC. I didn't take it as Wii trolling at all, just seems to be a misconception with motion controls and is commonly repeated. I don't know what your space is like, but all but my golf/sports & fitness games could easily be played sitting at my PC. (obviously multiplayer would be tough )

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

Lol, 4 player coop on a 20" screen in a small bedroom...

Depends on the game. I'd generally rather point at the screen than tilt a right analog stick though.

I like a regular controller, When the PS move comes out I will give it a try for some games

whatever fits best.

For example

Fire Emblem - Motion controls make no sense at all in that game.

Wii Sports - Motion controls make perfect sense in the game, and button pressing seems really lame.

I also like a nice mix if that makes sense too.

that.

(and lol a mouse motion controler comment.... cause it's actually very true :-p)

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

i prefer buttons... motion control will always be a secondary input type for me! hope that never become the standard... i am very old school.

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

I am assuming you are meaning one or the other, not a mix of the two (like Wii). Either way, all I can think is.. why not ask this question after users have gotten to experience being the controller?
