Forums - Sony - Why don't the gods give Kratos amnesia?

Because they want to die.

I mentioned it on the other tread, it's just a plot hole, just like whole time traveling. It's annoying but we wouldn't have GOW3.

How is it a plot hole? The god's didn't want to erase his memory.

Apparently Kratos is angry because he is haunted by the memories of what he did.  So, why didn't the gods make Kratos just forget?  You know, have Zeus zap him with an eletric bolt in the head and perform a lobotomy, or something like that.

Isn't there a god of Memories in the world of Kratos who could lose his file or something?  Considering what is coming down, maybe they should of thought of it.

Listen, I'm not being a jerk here:

The Greek gods are jack-asses. They didn't do that because they are jack-asses.

Well... in this game they're jerk asses... the represenatations of the Greek gods aren't exactly spot on here... they're more like the depictions of the gods on Hercules: The Legendary Journies.

The Greek gods had their "jerk" moments in real life... but not nearly as much.

Also the more obvious point is "He couldn't kill them then could he."  Which would ruin the game.

Actually, they were for the most part a bunch of jackasses in the actual myths too. Except maybe Hestia, though I'm not too sure about that either: the few people who managed to anger her suffered some of the nastiest fates in the entire body of Greek mythology.

This actually holds true for quite a lot of faiths: most god-figures don't seem to act very often in ways that people would generally consider "good". Most faiths which include genuinely-likeable central figures don't speak of them as gods. The Buddha, for example, was quite the decent fellow, but was very insistent that people not worship him. According to some readings of the New Testament, Jesus did much the same. The concept of an omnibenevolent God used by some Christians is almost unique to that faith: a point that many Christian apologists emphasize.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

No they weren't.  They each had flaws... but they weren't outrigt jackasses.

By in large the greek gods were extremely fair, except for the few cases.

Considering what is coming, they might want to reconsider this.  Again, get Kratos wasted on Coronas and other things.

Side note: PLEASE don't take this thread too serious.  If you are a fan of God of War, I was just asking you to think a sec that MAYBE the gods would of been better off having Kratos forget.

Without reading the OP or any of the comments, I must say I had a good laugh at the title of this thread.

He's like.. "i've done what you asked. Now remove my memories ! and the pain!"

they're like "nay !"

then he's like "oh noes. I'll throw myself off a cliff and end it !"

but then they stop him and are like "Nay ! once again !.. We cannot let you die. You're now the new god of war."

It's god of war... there is going to be plotholes.

Heck, I still haven't figured out why he didn't use his harp and time travel powers to completly change his and his familys destiny.  People say it's because his wife and daughter got to be in the Elysian fields... but they SHOULD go there anyway... if he goes back and changes his history to where he lives a less dickish un-Ares involved life... and then he could spend eternity with his kid and wife.
