Forums - Gaming - Level-5 Planning New Title Announcement for April!

most likely Dark Cloud 3.

Why are people saying Dark Cloud 3? That wouldn't be Hino's to unveil...

Plus, I doubt Sony would contract L5 for two games at once (they haven't before), and I also doubt L5 would really want to commit the staff needed to them, when they could be banking on DQ, IE and Layton. And soon Nunokuni and Danboard Senki too.

"Once this is announced," he wrote, "it will become an extremely anticipated title."

This leads us to think it might be a sequel and Dark Cloud 3 is probably the most requested game from Level 5.

There's already a new Professor Layton announced.

The latest Inazuma Eleven came out not too long ago.

I don't see what new Dragon Quest game could be announced.

ROUGUE GALAXY 2 PLEASE!!!!!

They have two self published games - one for PS3 and one for Wii. They told us this like last month. I don't see why it wouldn't be on of those two games. I think DC3 will come eventually but I don't think that's what he's talking about.

Also why wouldn't the dev/pub say it will be an anticipated title? This is for hype.

He could be talking about the PS3 title and it'll probably be a new IP worth looking at. Or it could be a Wii game that's not Inazuma Eleven Break.

He said "extremely anticipated". You don't say that unless you really believe it will.

Yeah it might not be Dark Cloud 3 but then I would say it's a new IP.

Ushiro re-announced for PS3?

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

Well, "extremely anticipated" probably rules out another Dark Cloud 3 already anyway. Hino's used to million sellers now, multimillion sellers even... DC doesn't really qualify.

I'd agree, probably a new IP, and hopefully one of their PS3 or Wii projects.

Uh...why does it not make sense not to do it? :P To me the concept of the game seems like it's fit for a handheld like the PSP.

It just seems like they've gotten cold feet with Ushiro PSP... and after WKC's decent success on PS3 I can see them wanting to refigure the title.  It'd make a good fit imo.

I think maybe they're waiting until after Danboard Senki releases this spring/summer though.  That game's performance will probably dictate exactly how much future support PSP gets from L5.

Well technically we can say that about Inazuma Eleven Break too but we know that's coming :P I don't see why they'd restructure it for the PS3 of all systems anyway. If anything I'd say DS. For PS3 I think they'll probably keep making the "epic" games like WKC and probably eventually Dark Cloud. For Wii they'll do games similar to their DS stuff (Inazuma, Ninokuni, DQ. Maybe, but I don't know how likely, they'll make a Wii tailored game like how Professor Layton is tailored for DS).

IE Break was never formally announced though, even though we all know what it is (Wii IE1 remake).  That's unlike Ushiro, which was shown at a fairly advanced state 2 years ago and originally supposed to have released before Danboard Senki iirc. :/

I think there'd still be a pretty decent market for Ushiro on PSP (it seems to be where all the Persona fans went anyway), but Valkyria's recently proved the platform's not infallible and I still get the feeling the game would get more exposure and attention by going PS3.  Hell, the assets are already pretty high quality, I don;t even think they'd need to start from scratch since the aesthetic is already so stylized... just bump up the resolution, upgrade the tech/effects, and it'd look pretty nice as is.

I also think Dark Cloud's pretty much done... the games were never all that successful in the first place, and I doubt Sony's interested in continuing it (they've seemed to pretty much throw all their PS1/PS2 RPG IPs in the dustbin).  Best hope for DC fans would be that L5 does their own new IP dungeon crawler / geomrama sim as a spiritual successor.  I still think a "Young Layton" spinoff could work well with the concept too.
