Forums - Sony - Playstation Move: or how else would we have made the controller?

I still don't get it. So Sony makes bland Wii Sports copies to give third parties an easy chance to make superior games and garner more sales?

would you show a tech demo, or a full game this early?

when last time 20 companies showed up , said they were going to develop but than do nothing.

and GDC was not the first place that Sony handed the kit's out.

these were already in other companies hand's even before GDC

for one which look's more mature:

eyepet's playstation Move function's

or

Playstation Move : Move Party

which one was more mature in it control of these motion controll's?

also what's the number of Team's making Playstation Move software?

where as how many developer's are @ Nintendo that use the same Motion Control's on every game? "everyone"

Look, we fully understand that the finished 'Wand' is not a complete copy of the Wiimote. But it doesn't mean they didn't create it to try to grab a piece of the pie that Nintendo put out on the Window still.

And second of all, people aren't trying to say Sony's Want isn't going to have unique features. But it does look pretty ridiculous. I mean, it looks more like a 'Bop it' toy than a controller.  This from the company that joined Microsoft in trying to downplay Nintendo's system as being 'just a toy'.  And if you remember, more than a few Sony fans were knocking the Wiimote not that long ago.

not any moreso than those very same Nintendo fans knocking  Blu-Ray or the price of the PS3 ,sixaxis or pretty much anything about the PS3 like the PS3 had no Game's.

no matter what they all had people talking smack.

that still does not change the fact.

the point is Its not  Copy , they both already had the same IDEA, Nintendo decided to release the technology first, Sony could have but they chose not too becuase the Higher up's did not think it would go over as well as it has. most likely because with what happened with the eyetoy support last time.

I am not saying that Nintendo did not do a great thing by releasing the motion controll's,

Some AT SONY Did not think it was Viable not all at Sony though. thought that way

that's why Sony did not Copy it.

they did not need too

already Like Nintendo they already HAD it .

the very fact back in 2005 they even had a  patent is proof of this , Nintendo showed off their remote 2 month's after sony had a patent on a playstation wand.

can sony sue Nintendo..no

can Nintendo sue Sony...no

why?

because even their design's are at the very core designed like a standard everyday TV remote

In the end Move is just a peripheral and third parties will treat it as such. They'll tack on motion controls to existing PS3 games or port some of their Wii games. They won't build any games specifically around Move, no matter what Sony does. Okay, they could pay them off, but that's their only option.

Generally, third parties will take a wait and see approach how Move does in retail before they seriously commit to it. For the time being they will stick with what works for them instead of taking a risk.

would they ?

we do not know that for sure

we will have to see if they will or not.

Indeed. The Wii could recover this year and then peak in 2011, even though people started to write it off after sales dropped in 2009.

I do not think the Wii will peak in 2011 , I think it's not going to until maybe not even 2012+.due to the fact that sale's has still remeained strong with only one price drop. when the Wii hit's $149.99 that's going to shoot Wii sale's. that's when a console Price his it's price point that mainly many people that hold out wait for. because many start picking up old game's for cheap. This of course may also be able to gather more  strong 3rd party support for the Wii because of both Sony and Microsoft's offering's

I think the Wii will have selling dynamic like the DS line of system's, since everytime it seem's a new Re model of the DS hit's not only the older one's keep selling but the new system's sell rather well. I think Nintendo may do something like that with the Wii.

not saying for a fact but they just may fo it.

like I said strange thing's have happened this generation.

tl;dr version of this thread:

Joeorc says: SONY EMPLOYEES HAVE TOYED WITH MOTION SENSING FOREVARR RAAAWRRR

Sony fanboys say: YA GOOD READ

Everybody else says: Okay that's fine, but that still doesn't cut out the fact that Wand looks almost identical to the Wiimote.

Joeorc ignores everything and repeats everything he's already said fifteen thousand times before.

Everybody else tries to get the idea into joeorc's head that there are a million ways Sony could have designed their motion controller without making it look just like a Wiimote.

Joeorc returns to the fact that Eyetoy's been around for over five years already, completely missing the point.

Everybody else gets tired of trying to get the idea through the obvious fanboy's skull.

Rinse, repeat.

I'd just like to point out that, from my perspective, its moreso the 'other' types of 'fans' that were knocking the PS3 about having 'no games' or 'blu ray' and such.  Not 'Nintendo fans'.  Why would Nintendo fans be bringing up stuff about Blu Ray when the Wii doesn't even have a movie based format in its system (something the Wii was also mocked for early on)?  And I personally didn't see many 'Nintendo fans' pointing fingers at the PS3 claiming it had 'no games'.  Especially since people were claiming the same thing about the Wii in its first 2 years.

Finally, and this isn't really to upstage you or anything, but while the Eyetoy and stuff was an early form of motion, Nintendo did have even earlier forms of camera based technologies on the market and in patents before it (Game Boy Camera anyone?).  And while Sony may have had a patent out for a motion controller before the Wiimote, they weren't the first.  There were actual motion controllers for stand alone on the market years before the Wiimote AND Sony's patent.  Such as the Dragon Quest motion control sword ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenshin_Dragon_Quest:_Yomigaerishi_Densetsu_no_Ken ) and even earlier motion devices in arcades.
