Wait so how did Wii Fit Plus do?

16th place, somewhere likely around 150K for the month. Along with other hardware dependent games, it was in short supply.

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Nintendo selling every bit of hardware they have would be bad news in Pachterland, wouldn't it?

Is this guy on Sony's pay roll? Or is he just bitter Nintendo have proved him wrong time and time again?

There there, Wii Fit HD will save us all.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Actually, I think he's on the payroll of third party publishers. You'll notice he spends the first month or so after a hardware price cut praising the cheaper console, then immediately starts talking about how important the next price cut will be. He does this with all hardware, and it doesn't serve Sony, MS, or Nintendo, it serves the publishers who want the hardware companies to subsidize the install base so they can sell more software.

Ask Pachter what Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo need to do to win the console war, and he'll tell you cut price, cut price, cut price, and nevermind the software.

Wii will be alright, there were nothing out in Febuary for the Wii.

Including hardware, Wii hardware is supply constrained, even reports of software constraints, so you end up with a poor month. supply constraints will last until the end of march according to reggie

sales of staple titles like Wii Fit with Balance Board and Wii Play were well below historical levels,

That tends to happen when a game has sold 20m+ and has been out for years.

More because hardware was in short supply after a record breaking holiday

Nintendo reports that its top software is also in short supply

http://www.cnbc.com/id/35837061

“Titles like ‘Wii Fit Plus,’ ‘Mario Kart,’ and ‘New Super Mario Bros.’ were in low supply in January and February,” says Nintendo’s Cammie Dunaway. “We were out of stock on our top items.”

He fails to realize that games like Wii Play and Wii Fit aren't selling to existing buyers, they are selling to new buyers. With all the supply constrains there weren't too many new buyers this month, so naturally those software sales were lower. Take a look at NSMBWii, which sells to existing buyers as well, which almost toppled Bioshock 2 as the best selling game of the month.

Is there any truth in Pachter's assertion that the Wii attach rate is consistently declining?
