Dodece, stop acting so high and mighty. You did not make it obvious in the slightest that you were talking about Vgchartz users.

If bullshit was a snow cone, you only decided it needed one flavor.

There are a lot of fans on this forum with a victim complex. Seriously, get over it. It's really not that bad here - there are enough people willing to have intelligent discussion that you can ignore that 5% which are entirely idiotic.

Also, I'm sorry, but the majority of calls of "everyone is bashing x!!!" come after someone has made a grandiose, ill-informed statement that got shot down. The only reason that doesn't happen as much to Wii fans is there is a critical mass of people making grandiose, ill-informed statements, such that they can ignore getting shot down.

Fully agree here. A problem is that most of the people (and most of the time those who say there so much fanboys here) only talk down in flame wars, and ignore if someone want actually discuss something.

ioi -

So I need to ask, as a mod, what can/should I do to prevent the threads from getting derailed?

Merely because it seems like each day, there's something else out there on atleast this forum, that elicits OT and trolling behavior.

Heck, even this thread has already been derailed from "am I the only one that thinks that the forums have been derailed by ot posts and trolling/hating beahvior" into a thread about why the X360 is great, or sucks, or anything like that.

My idea was/is to use my mod powers, atleast on this forum, to try and curb the off topic and trolling behavior. Merely because if it happens here, it can start happening at other points of the forum.

May I ask this of the Wii owners that posted in here: How would you like it if I started coming into the Nintendo topics, and went at length to start attacking your system of choice, and your game(s) of choice? And again, I did that in your forum. Not mine.

Everyone should certainly feel free to post in the MS forum, but I fail to see why we should treat someone that doesn't own a Xbox 360, have any interest in it, and definately sees the world from a much different slant, the same kind of credit and opportunities someone else does. There are lots of multi-console owners in the X360 forum, but they are the ones, 7 out of 10 times, defending the thread/cause of the X360.

So I guess what I'll just do is whip out the ban stick if I need to (but after warnings, of course).

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of fine folk that never will own a Wii like Rolstoppable, Naznatips, DonWii, and others that post in the X360 forums and usually have something intelligent and constructive to say. But then, you have others that just seem to come in to bash the X360, or raise the post count. I've never seen leo-J or Soriku come here to post a topic about something new/exclusive to the X360 and talk about it from a neutral standpoint, have I?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Edit: nevermind.

This completely depends on restraint shown by both sides, mods and users. There are a fair amount of mods who are constantly accused of fanboyism - myself included - and some are warranted, while others aren't. I feel I do a decent job of shelling out criticism where criticism is due, no matter the platform. Most other mods do the same.

I have no problem with people criticizing the 360, there is plenty to slam about MS and some of the choices they have made (RRoD, DLC prices, etc). Where this crosses the line is when a thread is derailed by someone stepping in and throwing a thread completely off-topic and slamming a console, bringing out the worst in everyone and turning the topic into a shitfest.

Anyway, I'm all for temp bans for people who "drive-by" a thread with no intent other than to ruin a conversation about another console. My problem is that I feel some mods will abuse this and start handing out bans based not on merit but instead on their personal biases. This leads to a "have & have not" attitude on the board where some users are granted virtual immunity and others are afraid to say anything for fear of a ban. That certainly will not help things. Given the obvious Nintendo bias on the forum, it only compounds the problem, putting PS3 & 360 users even more at edge.

...

I don't know, there's no real answer to this problem. I'll do whatever ioi tells me. :D

I thought you meant you wouldn't get SSBB even if it is the greatest game ever.

LOL I just saw that... No problem. After re-reading my post, I can see how you thought I meant that. No big deal.

I'll be picking up SSBB when I buy another Wii so it's not as if I hate the game or anything, just that I would rather have that list of games over any one game.

Ummm my honest opinion, I'd put the category before the post title, if I make a thread I'll atempt it in that manner, it seems redundant but it could work. Like say I wanted a ps3 thread about upcomming square titles, I could pu PS3: Upcomming Square Titles, or something of the sort, I also agree to having a multiple "hot forum topics" category type thing for each of the 3 major consoles, then maybe handhelds on the side (those seem to be civil as Sony and Nintendo press for different types of audiences it seems).

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

Maybe you should remove the whole hot topics section, I guess that is where most people read about other threads. If there is not such a section, other people will not come into xbox360's threads that much.
