Forums - Microsoft - Crytek demonstrates CryEngine 3 on Xbox 360

This thread was started to discuss the 360 version shown of the video...there is another thread if you want to discuss the PS3 version or PC version...outside of the MS discussion board.

Personally I'm not a big fan of Crytek or Crysis, I thought the first game was sort of blah, but I know lots of people who really liked it. I'm just glad to see more engines becoming available to the console market. It should continue to increase the quality of the games we are seeing.

I agree.  No where in the title does it mention the PS3 or PC and they have their own forums.  It's annoying to see the usual suspects derail every pro 360 thread with what is essentially off topic discussion.

so aside from a crysis related game have other developers picked up the engine? I haven't heard any news on other developers licensing the engine. If anyone knows feel free to post it.

It's very interesting that they chose the 360 version to demo with yet again. Must be a performance thing.

I think its more like "See your xbox can run this! we know you love shooters. make sure to buy this!" Whereas the PS3 isn't as known for its shooters.

...Well...Considering that 7 out of the top 10 selling PS3 games are shooters, and that everyone was/is fapping to Uncharted 2, KZ2, MAG, and Socom 4, and also that some of the most highly regarded shooters - BFBC2, MW2, Bioshock2, Medal of Honor, etc - are all multiplatform, I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say this. Even ratchet and clank is a platforming shooter, lol.

Uncharted is an action game ;)

MGS4 is an action game.

Also those multiplats all seem to sell better on the xbox. thus xbox= shooter. and what are the only games xbox are know for? halo and gears. shooters. lol

Do we really need separate threads for a multiplatform engine everytime something pops up for one version?

PS3/360 are identical according to Crytek while PC will of course be given the option of more goodies depending upon the PC's specs.

I just don't see the need for this - it's not like anything shown isn't going to be on the other platforms.

Yes we do need seperate threads. Because you're going to post in every single one of them as your post count per day is terrible!

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

Well, good thing i didn't mention MGS 4.

Uncharted is an action game, but that doesn't mean it's not a shooter.

It has competitive multiplayer shooting modes and a variety of guns.

Not swords, maces, spears; guns.

Try playing the game without firing a single bullet.

Shooter.

There are heavy platforming elements, but there is enough emphasis on guns to make it a shooter.

If U2 is not a shooter than Gears 2 is not a shooter

So everyone's just thinking of me?  That's so sweet!  Anyway, can't wait to play some Cryengine based games on consoles.  I'm really hoping this engine and the new id Tech5 mix things up a bit - no harm to Epic, but way too many games use Unreal and tend to look way to similar (Mirror's Edge being a notably exception) as a result.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

All gears has is shooting though. There is no sneaking, there is no platforming. There is no climbing. I was joking about Uncharted 2 btw.

I apologize, arguing on the internet has dimished my snese of humor.

Also the gears 2 DLC does have stealth elements at the very least, but I get your point.
