It's very interesting that they chose the 360 version to demo with yet again. Must be a performance thing.

Call me crazy, but is it just me. Or does this seem like the greatest engine on the market? It seems to have pretty much everything you could need. I saw in one video. A nuke landed offshore and everything was destroyed in real time on the shore line. That putting it up there with the forstbite two engine. The graphics are obviously top notch. seems easy to do multiplat games. Great physics and lighting. Sure one can argue that the engine of certain games have better certain aspects. Such as KZ2 has better particles and body animations. And uncharted may have better lighting and animations. But this really has everything you could want. It is approaching a perfect engine build to be able to mimic everything you would have in real life.

I think its more like "See your xbox can run this! we know you love shooters. make sure to buy this!" Whereas the PS3 isn't as known for its shooters. And everyone knows the PC can run it fine.

Yes. I think it's at the stage now where if you're not
*Open world
*Support 2xAA
*At least that degree of physics
*Both HDR and Deferred rendering simultaneously
Then graphically and technically speaking, you're not competitive.
Looks amazing but this will be a PC purchase for me.

That would have no effect on how bright the picture is. The wall and the ground and EVERYTHING is obviously brighter/less blurry on the PS3 one. The light would have zero effect on what the engine is rendering. That being said. The PS3 one looks better. But the xbox was able to be connected to :P Pros and cons people. Pros and cons.
EWWWW screen tearing like a mofo in the second video. I can tell, the xbox at least really cant handle it yet. The PS3 probably cant either. Or maybe the code sucks. Who knows.
Btw PC FTW! |
The reason everything is brighter and less blurry on the PS3 is because of that light behind it. If the light was also being shone on the 360 TV it too would be brighter and less blurry due to the video playback being able to pick up more detail because of the extra light source. You can see more macroblocking on the 360 and in-game engines do not, in fact cannot cause that.
However IF what you say is true than it's possible the 360 version is running at a lower resolution ala FFXIII. PS3 does have more raw computational power and Blu Ray space even if it's GPU and split RAM architecture are lacking in comparison.
Either that or the TV brightness and 360 in console video settings are off....

see now, I think Sony = retarded dumb asses (just look at their PR lawl,) but I still have a PS3 and it has good games, it's not that people downplay Sony, it's that Sony = wtfzer. I'm totally OK with a hot blonde who's really good with sex that's got shit for brains, as long as I don't have to marry her.

This thread was started to discuss the 360 version shown of the video...there is another thread if you want to discuss the PS3 version or PC version...outside of the MS discussion board.
Personally I'm not a big fan of Crytek or Crysis, I thought the first game was sort of blah, but I know lots of people who really liked it. I'm just glad to see more engines becoming available to the console market. It should continue to increase the quality of the games we are seeing.

Look at the video again. Everything is brighter. Its not the damn light. Light shining on a screen makes it HARDER to see. Not easier. Its not a painting.
It could very well be the angle that the camera in the engine is at. The PC and the xbox versions are more to the right. The PS3 is more to the left. That could very well be it. But the external light source is not it.
