Thats odd seeing that the most successful DQ game is on a playstation platform, the ps2 remakes sold on par with those on the DS.  Saying that DQIX is a success is silly, the mainline games have been a success on all the platforms it is released on.

Nintendo publishing doesnt really mean anything, what value can Nintendo add that SE cant?

Square can't market software like Nintendo can. They just can't.

And for the record - DQVIII may be the highest-selling worldwide, but DQIX won't have to sell much at all in the West to stomp the Hell out of it. The gap in Japan is enonrmous.

DQIX only really needs to sell 800k to become the best selling DQ, what's a factor here is that DQ's style and approach will make it easier to market as a Nintendo game in the west so DQIX and DQX have an advantage over their co published third party title MH3.

First of all, in Japan, the most successful Dragon Quest game has already been Dragon Quest IX, with more sales still being made.

Second of all, as someone mentioned, considering if Dragon Quest IX sells even 250,000 in both Europe and America, it'll most likely surpass the sales for Dragon Quest VIII worldwide.  Not that hard, even for an 'overlooked' series in the west.  Especially since this one will finally be marketed.

Last of all, as some people have already said, Nintendo is already going to advertise Dragon Quest IX outside of Japan to quote 'Try to make the series popular like it should be' as stated by Iwata.  Because, lord knows SquareEnix isn't going to bother with it, as they have demonstrated time and time again.  The only effort they're going to put into their marketing outside of Japan is series that begin with 'Final' and end with 'Hearts'.

I would say the chances are slim to none. The game is being developed with Wii as the lead console, which means the game is developed in SD. Porting from HD to SD is possible, but going to SD to HD will look like crap on the HD console.

I think this thread is a spoof of the other thread where someone was seriously saying FFvXIII and FFXIV was going to be a multiplat PS3/Wii release. I'm not going to repeat myself in this thread but my answer is the same :)

I would understand the choice if it was Kingdom Hearts 3 but Dragon Quest X? It just doesn't fit to me.

What part of Dragon Quest is more at home on the PS3 than the Wii?
