An update....i finished the game and it took me approx 18 hrs on medium ( i take my time playing and don't rush).. As me and others said before the game is worthy of praise but on medium it was too easy so i recommend playing on hard straight away. Now the question of replayability ; unfortunately not much...there are challenges you can take which basically are chunks of in game missions in which the aim is to collect as much cash as possible for bronze , silver and gold medals and as far as new content nothing to speak of.

In conclusion great entertaining game and lasts quite a while but after you finish it there is nothing to go back to. Its quite a meaty campaign so i wouldn't recommend a rental as it would require too long to finish and you will want to finish it. If you got the cash and can't wait buy it then trade it in for something else, otherwise wait for when its around 20/25 and get it then ;) The experience is worth it for sure..

Why wouldn't a game with 18 hours length be worth a buy on full price(if it's good)?

Metroid prime 3 is approx 16 hours and it's easy as well without reason to replay it yet it's worth the full price to me and many others.

I bet Retro studios stuffed in the crates and doors(using them as hidden loading times) in this game though. Really their style ;o

Can you tell us more about the challenges please. I was hoping they would be like Showdown in Wii Sports Resort. Is there an option to play through the game again with all the moves unlocked?

Sure no prob.. When you start a game you choose your save file and difficulty setting, from there you play the campaign and whatever you unlock in it its available in the challenges but to restart on a different difficuly level it seems you have to start a fresh save file. I haven't started a second playthrough yet but my understanding is that you need to restart from scratch if you want to play on a different difficulty setting.

The challenges like i said are basically some of the campaign missions where the aim is to collect as much cash as possibile for medals. To collect cash you need to destroy as much stuff as you can(crates and the like) and finish off the enemies in style with finishing moves so they drop more cash but essentially its like replaying parts of the game with no new content but you keep all the weapons and moves or upgrades you unlocked . There are between 8/10 total challenges not 100% sure.

So in essence you keep the stuff you unlocked for the challenges only not for a second playthrough. Hope that helps...

You have a point there but there are a couple of things i want to clear up. The first is that I play at a slow methodical pace so if for you MP3 lasted 16hrs it lasted me over 25 ;) and the second point is even though red steel 2 is a great game MP3 is just a better one (in my opinion anyway). the atmosphere in the prime games is just unbeatable. Also you have to take into account all the scanning, lore and backtracking in metroid whereas  RS2 is much more of a straight forward action game. Its not really fair to compare the two as the prime games are all time favs for me but i would absolutely still recommend playing RS2 wheter you buy at full price borrow or rent, its just a lot fun ;)

On your second point i absolutely agree and in fact i thought the same thing while playing it, maybe its just an impression or maybe its more than that. The load times are hidden well and the crate smashing i found to be quite obsessive :p

I haven't finished the game yet (now playing Perfect Dark!) but I've seen my girlfriend finish it. The game's a lot of fun but the ending was really disappointing. Still a good game, but I'm doubting if I still want to pay for it (since I pre-orderes it ages ago) while we already have the game...

I'm not expecting this to be as good as Metroid prime 3 you know :P

But I'll probably have more fun with it because metroid prime 3 was the weakest of the primes(still an amazing game though) and it didn't do anything new except the voice acting. I really hated the different planets... One big planet would have been better.
