You mean online? nah they don't show the pictures online on eye of judgment so the players wont see ya.

How do you know what the system does when you are online? How do you know that Sony or some other company doesnt use the device to record pictures from your home?

It has been done with Webcams. It will be done with this device as well.

Wow......just wow.....*mind explodes*.....

This joke has been used in every second post, it got old really fast.

Anyone has a good response on why it is no problem having a camera in your living room other than "dont be paranoid" or "Sony wouldnt do that"?

I guess not.

PS MOVE IS A FLOP! I am wondering why the playstation "move" is such a Nintendo Wii rip off, merely in HD? Dnt they have any sense of innovation whatsoever? The youtube video posted by vgchartz says it all! Whats so special about it that sets it apart from the Wiimotion plus?! As far as I am concerned there is no difference, except it has a wireless "nunchuck" you may as well call it a nunchuck rather than the "subcontroller" because it does the EXACT SAME THING!!!!!

Oh and finally Sony brings out a "real trigger" for one of its controllers, although its just ONE, its better than nothing....

Sony has no right to mess with our privacy and our lives. I'm quite suprised at people here who are so light-headed at giving such potential to the corporation.

Come on. You do know that MDMA makes paranoid.  Just wait for a while. one year is enough. (Amphetamine-psychosis) I said that just in case you choosed your name for that reason.

OP:

First its impossible to run your own programs on a non hacked PS3 also at the moment noone is able to run their programs in the game os even of you have tried to hack your PS3. The hackers are not at the level yet to do what it needs to make that scenario reality.

Next thing is. Sony would have to pay Millions for people which look hours and hours of the material. Also people which pay per MB would see that. Someone would really fast find this out because his bill would be higher. what do you think would a 24/7 streaming cost for someone which pays the volume ? Also in all countrys its highly forbidden what sony would  do here. In Europe they would probably be sued for billions and the same in america and japan.  it would be the companies death.

And what do you think they could find out ? Nothing interesting do you think they want to see you if you have sex in front of your tv ?

Its totally ridicolous most people are just heavily influenced by the media. The world isnt as bad as some might think. Yes people die and evil things happen  but I also know that the internet is full of shit.

Lets begin with y2k which is evidently shit with atleast some background but the internet and media showed us how they can exaggerate. then george bush attacked new york. yes thermite ? do you know how thermite can be synthesized ? Next thing. america wasnt on the moon. But we have pictures from the landing site also there was a mirror (and still is) to measure the exact distance between moon and earth. russians have checked it also they would never allow that USA lies. And USA knew that sooner or later someone would find out they would never try to trick the people because that would be a massive damage for their image and also they werent able to do this. A giant brown dwarf will destroy our earth in 2 years and we all will be slaves of the annunaki. only thing is that noone can see this planet and to be here between 2012-14 it would be already between jupiter and saturn and this panet would be visible with a 100 dollar telescope. next fad. poleshift. is happening all 100000k years is nothing special geological poleshift is ridcolous.

And then some are saying that our laws dont work. that companies can do what they want and that they are covered by governments. But our laws work very well. ofcourse there are exceptions like always but in most cases yes, just look how MS was sued because of such a relatively small thing and does someone actually believe that sony would do such a thing which would be 100% discovered by somebody. ?

Ofcourse some criminals made this and our world begiins to go the 1984 way (even though I dont believe we will get there ever). But total surveillance is damn expensive and companies are interested in our shopping behaviour and not our living room furniture, people are not as interesting as they think. I swear you sony wont ever do this just check your line. buy move connect to the internet do nothing and wait that the PS3 begins to transfer data to sony. If you dont want to wait buy a program wich recods everything let it run and go into vacation for 4 weeks, call a lawyer explain him the situation collect evidence and then make a lawsuit, earn billions and take down sony .

In a nutshell, doing surveillance costs resources.

Doing it for millions of online players costs big resources.

If being done actively, it requires having a person on the clock watching video feed (like paid security personnel). Imagine buildings full of personnel on the payroll for the purpose of monitoring potentially millions of individual video feeds. Can you? Don't bother; even the NSA doesn't have these resources. Federal agencies monitor traffic by higher probability sources and through hotwords that raise flags. They don't have the time or the tax dollars to monitor everything.

Non-active monitoring requires a recording system that monitors feed along with time stamps to be reviewed by personnel if anything out of the ordinary happens within range of the camera feed.

The only time using resources to do this is for security purposes and catch criminal activity on recording. It costs time and money. For the purpose of monitoring over a network connection, it also costs bandwidth in addition to server storage space.

SCE is not going to waste all these resources so they can watch you flail your arms or swing a controller around in front of your PSEye for no purpose other than the amusement or boredom of the people they'd have to pay to monitor video feeds.

Theoretically it's possible. But in actuality, nobody cares enough to bother doing this, even if it were.

If you're that insecure about being captured on video feed, then I recommend not stepping outside your home. Cameras are used for monitoring traffic, public buildings, federal buildings, small businesses, etc. etc. You're being recorded on a regular basis every time you're out in public.

Does it matter? No. Only if something happens within the time frame you're being recorded and the video records are reviewed.

Otherwise; nobody cares. You're not that important.

Have a problem with the minute possibility of being "spied" on at home? Just skip the use of netcams if you feel you're important enough to have someone being paid to monitor you play games.

Want to play anyway? Then just turn off your network connection while you do. Not difficult.

Sony's response will be "It's ok, most people don't even realise the cam is watching them, so what's the problem?"

This is in reference to their root kit comment before any of you get your knickers in a twist

It is NOT about the device being used when i play games. it is about being used when I am NOT.

Good lord, you guys are all way too gullible.

How retarded. The device is in your possession. If you are so worried about that unplug the damn thing while you are not using it or cover the lens. How dumb and paranoid can you be??

Why so agressive and insulting? Have I murdered your little kitten?

I am not saying Sony will do anything. The PS3 is a computer any someone might be able to hack it.

Why so persistent with stupidity? Did intelligence kill your cat?
