trestres i wanna ask you a question: you never seem to be satisfied, What are you lookin for? What do want to happen?

Yeah, true, whenver Nintendo gets on announcing stuff, third parties go away, while when third parties started announcing stuff, Nintendo was really quiet for a long time. I just want balance, Japan is just not supporting consoles anymore and Wii gets the least out of  that.

ooo so your like myself? a Mainly Japanese styled gamer?

Mostly, but not a big fan of JRPGs lol. I did play some, but I'm mostly into games made by Japanese companies like capcom, SEGA, Konami, Nintendo. I have to start playing JRPGs someday, the few I played, I really enjoyed, but I like other genres a bit more.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Well that would Xxplain why your ignoring The Last Story and Xenoblade existence, but being a fellow Otaku I can understand your situation, because most of the time I would rather eat grass then play anything made western hands.

Oh no, those are the games that will make me a JRPGer, I'm totally awaiting those games.

I might Xxplode of anticipation, can I do that too?

trestres,

Dude, you've been on this site for a while now, judging by your post count. Yet it seems that you do not pay attention to the weekly Famitsu charts. I will now enlighten you. Sony, Capcom, and just about every other developer in Japan re-releases games. For example, Monster Hunter Portable has been re-released as a Best hits title. I could provide more examples but one is enough. It's similar to the player's choice titles that are released here in North America.

It's different actually, this is a decision by Nintendo themselves, not by the third parties who made the games. Obviously they will have to agree, but the release dates are given by Nintendo, whereas the Best Hits are released by the publishers themselves whenever they feel its fine.

Actually it has always went through both publishers and the platform owners since the platform owners typically make an official announcement like this whenever something hits that greatest hits status.  Like many games hit platinum status on 360 before its released as a greatest hit on PS3, sometimes they line up, but the console owners still usually make an official announcement as well.

That's what Nintendo is doing here, publishers still have the right to lower their prices how they feel, but for the logo they just have to go through the channels to get it, and with Nintendo's way of doing things they base it off the ratings people give games on the Nintendo channel.

Oh well, my bad I guess. I always thought of it as a cheaper reprint that some companies might be doing regardless of how well the game sold. I don't know how many units they necessarily need to sell, is there a set number?

That's the main idea I know, but then 3rd parties should once in a while show the platform some love and make some quality games as well. It's hard to predict the Wii market, and 3rd parties may be reluctant to try, but the games can be a success. They are hurting themselves if they stop supporting the Wii for long periods and then suddenly come back, people do move on.

There's really no set sales, it's usually just when sales slow down enough that they feel there needs to be a price drop (publisher) so they say hey Nintendo give us a players choice sticker, they set the price drop date, print up some new discs and cover art, and done.

they are rewarding the companies that did so by making them part of this selection.  It's a cool idea, probably won't have a huge impact but it has to help some.  Get some shovelware off the shelves and more quality 3rd party titles.  I'm sure marvelous is very happy at least, the re-release  could go on to sell nearly half as much as the first release, who knows.

Yes Marvelous more than anyone deserves those sales. I hope Muramasa shows some legs. Little King's Story should be next.

BTW, is there any way of checking which games got awarded Silver, Gold or Platinum in Japan?
