I still dont think this game is as good as Battlefield 2 Modern Combat, the first bad company definately wasnt, but IDk for sure on this one.

Well, you have the return of the parachutes from Battlefield 2: Modern Combat and the Blackhawks which are really awesome. If you are going to get BC1, you should get it on 360. Although I'm sure the community for both system is a bit dead right now.

So if you play a while you get new weapons?

While there isnt a leveling system nor ranks you do earn/get new weapons from playing the game.

So you do earn new stuff, randomly of course.

Let me explain how it works. Valve took the average play time, then adjusted the drop rates so that a person who plays the average amount of time will get everything they need, on average. I know my friend play a whole lot for a week straight and back then he got all the alternate weps in about a week. Good luck doing that with any of the other games.

So you get new weapons by playing the game.

Like it or not thats a leveling system, example

4 hours = 4 points

200 points needed to unlock sniper.

They dont tell you but there counting it, so its a leveling system after all.

Let me explain, if you really want your weapons right away, join an achievement server and you get all weapons for a class in a 20-30 min time frame, so a total of about 2-3 hours to get all alternate weapons. Valve, or anyone else, really doesn't give a damn about that. Let me ask you, can I max out my levels in any game you can think of in 2 or 3 hours by joining a special server that won't put e in jeopardy of being banned or reset or suspended?

Yeah.... I didn't think so.

@FKN

Between "360, PS3 and Wii Owner" and your other part of your sig, I am absolutely convinced you don't know anything about just about anything so I just won't bother replying.

you do realize you can still unlock some weapons by earning trophies in TF2 right?

No I'm fairly sure Vietnam was better than BF2, though 1942 was better than either of those.

Also out of all the good MMOs to counter WoW you picked some of the worst you could pick? Between horrendous grinding, technical problems, bad concepts, and horrible balancing all of the ones you linked were absolutely horrible representatives of the MMO genre. Then again I guess I should be glad you didn't mention EQ or Lineage.

Pro tip, if you are gonna name MMOs that don't suck go with EVE or Planetside, at least they did something that WoW didn't trump.

I think that you need to realise that, while you don't like levelling up and unlocking rewards in FPS games, the general consensus is that is a good system. If more people like it than don't, it's likely going to stay. You may think its broken, but you are in the minority, so there is no point trying to convince other people.

FYI: Battlefield 2 is a classic.

Yes and following your logic all games should be MMOs or Farmville and just outright fuck the other genres. Far more people like those than any other genre don't they? You are in the minority as well so stop trying to convince people.

FYI: Battlefield 1942 is a far better game nonetheless.

MMOs are the most popular genre? Since when. Me thinks you are wrong.

The point of my post was this (which you seemed to miss): People like the levelling system in FPS games. MMOs and RPGs don't have exclusive ownership of levelling systems. If it was a problem where developers were putting in levelling systems and the players didn't want them, you'd have a point. But, people clearly want these systems, so stop pretending that you're the all powerful, all knowing, gaming god, while everyone else are idiots who play games they don't enjoy. People enjoy the levelling systems, that is why they are there. If you're not happy with them, don't play any game other than TF2.

They are the most popular genre since more people play MMOs than any other genre, probably more than many other genres combined.

Also I'd wager anything that TF2 has outsold anything that has levelling, meaning that is the more popular system and hence even by your logic you are wrong.

@Garnett

You have obviously not played squad games enough if you think 24 people run around with the same guns...

Didn't Modern Warfare 2 just hit 25 million unique players online? Also, there are far, far more FPS games available than MMOs, so just because 1 or 2 MMOs outsell comparable FPS games, doesn't mean the genre is more popular.

I'd wager than TF2 has not outsold Modern Warfare 2. Also, why not add the total sales of FPS games released recently with levelling and compare it to those without. Which sells more?

Just accept, because it is a fact, that most people enjoying the levelling up.

Maybe I'm missing omething, but which trophies exactly are you talking about in TF2. Are you going to deny the fact that outside of maybe the Scout, and that's because there's a lot of bullshit achievements like the jump and run one, you can join an achievement server and farm out your weapons in 30 minutes tops fo any given class? Can you point me towards another levelling FPS where I can get all weapons in less than 5 hours?

@Greyian

I am willing to bet my left nut that TF2 has sold more than MW2 on the PC. As for the MMO market, are you counting the countless MMOs over in Asia as well? Because I can guarantee you for every FPS you can list me I can come up with 2 MMO names. Going even further, all games should be like Farmville, even you can't deny that it has more users playing it than the top 3 FPS games combined.

Sure, a gimped down port with lots of negative sentiment around it is sure going to win a sales war. We may as well say TF2 sucks because the PS3 version of the Orange Box didn't sell as much as MW2 on the PS3 *rolls eyes*

Seriously, why are you bringing up sales? You've been consistently making arguments solely on:

1. Majority rules. Which has been adressed with the point that more copies of FPS games with leveling systems has been sold in comparison to those without this generation.

2. It doesn't fit under my belief on what makes a good FPS game.

I'm not saying it's "wrong" for you to believe leveling systems suck. It's subjective. But when you have this godlike and very patronizing attitude towards us and our own opinions, and you fail to give any proper justifications for your belief, it makes it very hard for us to respect you.

Aside from points 1 and 2, what do you believe are the merits of games without point systems, and the flaws of games that do?

Leveling is way easy in this game. The PS3 beta made it much harder to do so.

Because if I want to level, I go play an RPG. If I am playing an FPS I want to shoot people, plain and simple. A better quesiton is, why should anyone have to spend even 5 hours unlocking all the weapons? It's an FPS, it's meant for shooting, if you want progression go play the single-player, if you are playing multiplayer than give me all the guns.

Wow, just wow, your not worth wasting my time on....

Battlefield 2 is a very fun game. Definitely need a good squad to enjoy it.

I can see the issues people have with unlocking things, mainly because of gameplay balance issues. Players starting out actually have two empty slots for enhancements, while people who play longer can have more damaging bullets, better armor, better scopes, mortar strikes, etc. At least give starting players something to put there. If there was a team comprised of all new players and another team comprised of veterans, the team of new players is at an immediate disadvantage regardless of skill level. If I were playing the game with a more competitive viewpoint, I might care more, but I really don't. But, having said that, I can definitely see the issue with game play changing unlockables.
