While there isnt a leveling system nor ranks you do earn/get new weapons from playing the game.

Let me explain how it works. Valve took the average play time, then adjusted the drop rates so that a person who plays the average amount of time will get everything they need, on average. I know my friend play a whole lot for a week straight and back then he got all the alternate weps in about a week. Good luck doing that with any of the other games.

Like it or not thats a leveling system, example
4 hours = 4 points
200 points needed to unlock sniper.
They dont tell you but there counting it, so its a leveling system after all.

Let me explain, if you really want your weapons right away, join an achievement server and you get all weapons for a class in a 20-30 min time frame, so a total of about 2-3 hours to get all alternate weapons. Valve, or anyone else, really doesn't give a damn about that. Let me ask you, can I max out my levels in any game you can think of in 2 or 3 hours by joining a special server that won't put e in jeopardy of being banned or reset or suspended?

Maybe I'm missing omething, but which trophies exactly are you talking about in TF2. Are you going to deny the fact that outside of maybe the Scout, and that's because there's a lot of bullshit achievements like the jump and run one, you can join an achievement server and farm out your weapons in 30 minutes tops fo any given class? Can you point me towards another levelling FPS where I can get all weapons in less than 5 hours?

I am willing to bet my left nut that TF2 has sold more than MW2 on the PC. As for the MMO market, are you counting the countless MMOs over in Asia as well? Because I can guarantee you for every FPS you can list me I can come up with 2 MMO names. Going even further, all games should be like Farmville, even you can't deny that it has more users playing it than the top 3 FPS games combined.

the first few characters had trophy based weapons. Up to the heavy if i remember right. And why the hell do you want all weapons in less then 5 hours? are you to lazy to play a game to earn your weapons?
