Forums - Gaming - OnLive to launch on June 17 in US at $14.95 per month!

OnLive COO Mike McGarvey has told MCV that his cloud gaming service will launch in the US on June 17, with PC and Mac support included day one.

A date for Europe is yet to be announced.

Subscriptions will cost $14.95 per month and publishers on board include THQ, Ubisoft and EA.

Launch titles include Assassin’s Creed II, Metro 2033 and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.

The service is only due for the computers right now, but its promised micro console is still coming.

“We’re very pleased with the degree of publisher support received to date and have seen a rise in publisher interest in the OnLive Game Service as their focus begins shifting dramatically toward digital distribution,” said McGarvey.

“Individual titles will be available for purchase or rental on an a la carte basis. Specific game pricing, including rentals, purchases and loyalty programs, will be announced prior to the consumer launch event at E3.

“We’ll also be announcing additional loyalty and discount programs for consumers in the coming months.”

OnLive CEO Steve Perlman is due to formally announce the details at a speech at GDC later today.

The service was announced at the event last year

So who is interested?

not me, the games i want to play more than anything are made by sony or nintendo so OnLive is SOL on getting my monies.

It wont have achievements or even trophies so i doubt its gonna be successful.

does 14.99 include the cost of games?

Can I play any game I want for 14.99/month?

If so, ill get it once the library is a little better...

$15 a month for all the games on the service and potentially unlimited access to them?

That is a sweet price point, if true. Too bad none of those games appeal to me.

EDIT: ah no. Well, that's bollocks if you have to pay a service charge and pay for the individual games. No deal.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Yes you can as far as I know... but ther is an issue... previews where terrible at best :| I doubt it will work out :|

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

So wait, $15 is just the fee for the service? I still have to pay $$$ on top of that to "rent" or buy the games?

I bet once you stop paying they delete your saved games.

This is going to fail so hard.

I can rent unlimited games from blockbuster video for 19.99 a month. Yes its 1 game at a time...29.99 for more than 1 game at a time.

These guys want you to pay 15 bucks just for the service and then for each game on top of that...with a limited cataloge they have...and probably loads of glitches.

Sorry onlive... no dice.
