STOP BLAMING 360 and BLAME SE

Around the Network

Why is the 360 (and not Square-Enix) at fault for what became of FF13? You want non-linearity? You can find that in Xbox 360 jrpgs. You want real towns just like the ones you remember on the Playstation 1 and 2? You have that with Xbox 360 jrpgs. You want a world map? Yes, some Xbox 360 jrpgs have one. Clearly the Xbox 360 isn't responsible for Square-Enix's laziness. So what's your problem? If you are unsatisfied with the game, you have no one to blame but Square-Enix.

And considering the game's main quest is 60+ hours long and there's more to do on the side, I can't fanthom how anyone can complain about cut content. I don't know about you but 60+ hours and then some is a shitload to play. Maybe even too much if the main quest drags on and doesn't back up the quantity with real quality.

Right now Final Fantasy XIII on the PS3 (with 19 reviews) has a 83.13%. Which makes it the worst reviewed (main line) Final Fantasy game (not including re-releases).

The 360 version has a 79.25% (with 8 reviews).

Does anyone agree that putting the 360 into the focus of development of this game was a bad idea?

Or maybe fanboys should stop claiming FF to be the almighty RPG Lord and begin to realize that this franchise it's losing it's appeal and that it can suck?!?! Also, I'm pretty sure one of the mods claim he was gonna start locking this type of threads. Of course said mod is a Sony fanboy and this is a pro Sony thread indirectly so he's ok with it.

keeping the game as a PS3 exclusive would be a RETARDED move on Square's part IMO.

Why? Sony is nowhere near the position they were the last two generations. With PS1 and PS2, Sony dominated the market. Their consoles were like the Wii of this generation. This generation, however, PS3 ended up being a HUGE disappointment compared to its predecessors. And I don't mean just hardware sales. Software sales for many PS3 games are extremely disappointing imo.

Square keeping Final Fantasy XIII exclusive would virtually outcast the 38 million people who own Xbox 360's around the world. Bringing the game to 360 was an AMAZING decision because it more than doubles the number of people who have access to playing the game. Which do you think Square cares more for? Stupid biased reviews bringing their game down to an 83/8.3 on game rankings/meta critic, or the possibility of selling millions more? We all know critics and reviewers have been putting down JRPG's recently anyways.

When all is said and done, Final Fantasy XIII 360 should be a million seller by itself. This enough warrants the fact that Square brought it over. I for one am proud of them, and the game has not only met my expectations, it has shattered them in every way possible. It easily ranks in the top 5 games of the series, third only to Final Fantasy VII and XII. It is now my second favorite game this generation, only behind MGS4.

I have to keep saying this whenever it comes to former PS3 exclusives and "neglecting install base":

Kojima and Konami did it in 2008 when the PS3 was at less than half the install base it's at now, and MGS4 boosted their profits for what? 3 fiscal quarters? Maybe 4? All the while "ignoring the 360 install base".

So much WIN! In a single post. How do you do it?

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I don't care what the score is. Many people on the forums are loving it and one even said it would take a train wreck for it to not be his game of the gen.

Well for me this generation hasn't stacked up to the previous gen at all.

So that doesn't mean much for me.

But you can't say that this isn't a sign that Final Fantasy is losing it's luster.

Final Fantasy is just as good as it use to be. It's not the devs fault that people are anal over every single little thing that doesn't go there way. SE just needs to keep doing what they have doing. Except they need to get them out faster.

EDIT: Corrected my ultra fail spelling.

I respect your opinion. But I would have to say the older FF's are lightyears ahead. The new FF's are but a shadow of the greatness they once were.

Have you actually played the game in order to be able to post such a comment?

If so, could you please care to explain yourself more?

Everyone should chill out until they have played it. We all know reviewers aren't very kind to JRPG's anymore.

Well, although multiplatform releases are good for profit, you have to consider the type of genres played. Honestly, do you think that the Xbox 360 is just as popular in JRPG's as the PS3? Do you realize that JRPG's barely sell on the Xbox? To be honest, this game would have actually sold more either way. If you go around forums, you will realize how many sad people aren't going to buy the game because of its non-exclusivity, but at the same time, there are people who have played previous FF games, got an Xbox and are willing to try another one. But even with that in hand, its not a large number.

This is the true definition of owning.

Did you read the others post? Theres very few of the "fanboy" that agree with the OP. Most said we lack information or that its square enix fault and that its not related to 360. Theres a way to say thing and you dont have it. Even implying a mod will choose or not to end a thread because hes a sony fan or not... Keep that logic and those war will never die.

On the positive side it's the second best reviewed JRPG for this generation.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

There's really someone who wouldn't buy a game due to non-exclusivity?
