I think Leo-J played MGS4 first and then went back and got the first three. Or he went and got the first three immediately before he got MGS4. Either way, I remember he really enjoyed the saga. I think he said "This ten year old Playstation 1 game destroyed all of my PS3 games!" when he finally played MGS1. I'm not kidding.

Anyway, if you do go back and play them, post your impressions. MGS is my favorite gaming franchise (and MGS3 is the best game, ever), btw. I love to read the thoughts of those new to the franchise.

I can't believe that some people who say they love MGS would prefer that newcomers didn't bother with MGS4 if they're not going to play MGS1-3 first (not that I'm saying you're in that bracket). MGS4 is a gateway drug - once someone tries it they want to try the other ones. I'd have thought true fans would want that to happen!

Yes MGS4 is Awesome Game a must own for any PS3 owner and the MGS series is very Story heavy I would also recommend getting the hall collection because the MGS series is awesome.

Metal Gear Solid 4:Guns of the Patriots is the best PS3 game ever. So of course you should buy it. At $30, it is definitely reasonably priced, so go for it. But in order to get the full enjoyment of MGS4, play at least MGS1 in its entirety before you buy MGS4. You shouldn't be confused of its spectacular yet convoluted story if you beat MGS1.

IMO, MGS4 is not that great and I m not sure playing MGS4 "alone" I would really have enjoyed the game ... particularly because MGS4 was not that greta IMO !

That is why I m warning people to play all the games OR to not play them at all.

Also, MGS1 and 3 are really, really the best MGS games IMO.

MGS1 and MGS4 are best in my opinion, with MGS3 coming a close second. I loved the boss fights from MGS3 though, they were definitely the best in the series, which is saying something considering how great the MGS1 boss fights were.
