Forums - Sony - MS forces Sony to scrap 'Arc'?

mike_intellivision said:
It depends on the scope of the trademark. Is it for a mouse or for an input device?

And if your rival is going to make it difficult -- threatening litigation that might delay your product from coming out -- then you probably go with a different name.

Mike from Morgantown

My bet is on input device since there is also an Arc Keyboard from Microsoft... so it's a line of Microsoft products called Arc..

So Gem it is...

Most likely some emails were shot over to some sony people from MS people... it's always best to error on the side of caution when naming something this significant... mostly for the assholes who will try and rip people off on ebay

Bad title. MS aren't even forcing anything here. Sounds like Sony are (if this is true) making a choice themselves and they're the one's who slipped up if they didn't check other uses of the name properly.

Bad trademark check department sounds like.

MS might be chuckling. I wonder if they even knew about it (in the Xbox division?). Heck, I work for a huge tech company and don't know probably 25% of what we have trademarked across all the different tech we provide.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I had a boner coming into this thread.. what a boner killer. How dare you play with my inner xbot? u___u

ARC is in " " in the title, so it's NOT misleading Meaning The Name "ARC" not the divice.

Well I've just trademarked Gem.

So there!
