Forums - Sales - Do you expect the 360 to beat the PS3 again in February NPD?

360 should have February, but it should be very close nonetheless.

I don't know why people care about NPD. Worldwide numbers are the only ones that actually matter.
But, to answer the question, yes and pretty easily with mass effect.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

i think it will probably beat sony for america. i don't really know why that is so important when the 360 has virtually no presence in the other two regions.

art is the excrement of culture

it will do and it will keeping outselling the ps3 until they sort their shortages out but it will be a very small margin, so small that japan will more than make up for it. once march is done the ps3 should be in the lead in america aswell. march is gonna be huge for ps3.

Kantor, I´ve heard about the apparent PS3 shortages, but I´m out of the loop...is it true the console is in short supply?...because every week the PS3 hovers around 85/90K in NA, and those aren´t exactly small numbers.

They are in my area in Ohio. Today I went to buy a PS3, checked at 4 major retailers in my city and every place was sold out (even sold out of used ones). The one guy said that they only had 3 and they went fast.

Its America, of course it will!

maybe sony aint supplying cause they want to save alot of ps3's for march so they can cope with the demand for the month. i mean FFXIII and God Of War 3 releasing in the same month!

Hey MM476...are those stories about PS3 shortages real (at least based on what you´ve seen) and would they heavily play a factor into the 360 outselling the PS3?....or is it simply a case that the 'Slim factor' wore off in the U.S. and it´s back to more people just wanting a 360?

We're having pretty bad issues with both those and Wiis nationwide.  About a month ago we actually started allowing people to reserve the two consoles at GameStops to guarantee they get one.  Last week they removed the option from the system, because it got to a point where some people were waiting damn near two weeks just to get a system.  We were getting 5-8 reserves a week for ps3s, but at best only one shipment of three consoles.

And it's annoying because some people decide to wait a few days before coming to pick up their system after we get them in.  We had a ps3 sitting in the back for ~3 days this past week, and as a result we showed up on GameStop's website as having ps3s in stock.  People were coming in fairly often asking if we had any systems, because "the website said you did."

Even online they're still very hard to find.  They're currently backordered on GameStop.com, and on Amazon they're being sold by a secondary seller with a $70 markup.

As for how much it's effecting the ps3's total sales, I really can't say.  Demand seems abnoramlly high at the moment, but that's mainly because systems have been so scarce.  It's selling about 90k a week in the US, and lets say there are 20k people on average struggling to find systems.  Only one week with an abnormally high shipment would fulfill that demand, and it could even out around 90k after that anyway.  Or it could not.  It could just be pent up demand from the holidays and early January on top of a rather high weekly interest that's causing the issues, or it could be that there are simply more than 90k new buyers are looking for systems every week.

My gut says it'd be topping 100k weekly if there was enough stock floating around.

Certainly not in the UK. But from what I've heard, it's in very short supply in the USA.

Trust me, they were/are Ps3 shortages in the UK. (Only 120gb models though)

How does the 360 not have a presence in Others/Europe?
