Its absolutely retarded NOT to play past iterations of GOW and wanting to play GOW 3(Chains of olympus you can skip cuz that is filler).......all youve seen of kratos is him bashing heads and thats not what he is all about(maybe thats all he is about now but thats besides the point).....Play GOW1 to fall in love with the kratos I did back in GOW1 and Chains of Olympus.....

If you have a working ps2 or BC ps3.....you can easily find both games for $10 and if you dont have a working ps2 just rent the GOW collections(as your just using it to be up to date with the series)

Dude, trust me. The epic narrative that is told throught the God of War franchise was created from the events that occured in God of War 1 & 2. Its going to feel pretty weird and strange to just be thrusted into a world of Greek Gods and Monsters without knowing how you got there and why. I wouldn't be surpirsed if you play God of War 3 and end up getting the same reactions reviewers got when they played Metal Gear Solid 4. They were completely confused because the story was so complex that it was hard to get-into-it without having experience from playing the previous games. Go ahead and spend 30$ on God of War Collection. It will be money well spent.

To read and to play are two completely different things....because no matter how many times you read the summary, you will never have the understanding of the series as someone who has played it.

You have more than a week to play the 2 games , so if you have a working ps2, find the 2 games at your nearest game store or borrow it from a friend......

No, I still have to finish part 2 before I start it. I tried playing the first two back-to-back a couple years ago and it started to take away from the magic of part two so I stopped playing it half way through. Guess it's time to pop it back in once I finish Heavy Rain.

I felt the same way when I decided to play Gow1. You should play the first two. Once you start, you will complete it. It's one of the best overall games I've ever played. It's better than a lot of games in the 7th gen. This is the game that actually got me into gaming.

I've already beaten GOW 1 and 2 but I plan to go through them this week before I get GOW III. Plus, I plan on beating Dante's Inferno before GOW III drops, because I feel that if I play Dante's Inferno after GOW III, I'd be disappointed. You can't have somebody follow the best of the best.

Haven't played the first two, I don't think I need to play them to enjoy the third installment.
