Depp is far bigger these days. Plus Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry and others. The draw of the cast in Alice in Wonderland is collectively bigger.

But that wasn't my main point, my main point was that Alice in wonderland is a bankable widely known narrative. Avatar wasn't. Yes avatar was a HUGE hit, but its smaller first week can be attributed in many ways to the fact that it wasn't a known property.

But remember that Alice in Wonderland was considered a flop for Disney when it came out in 1951.

True. But its still based on a widely known book. Avatar didn't have that luxury.

Every person I talk to responds the exact same way as me. It's like the movie is one giant disipointment machine, cranking out shrugged shoulders and "why not just make a movie about Alice in Wonderland"s all over the place.

This movie is probably going to have some pretty huge drop offs considering the word of mouth it's generating.



I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Second weekend estimated numbers are in and Alice in Wonderland made $62,000,000!
The sixth best second weekend of all-time!

Of course now it's under Avatar.

Alice in Wonderland is currently at $429,625,000.

Why are the forums filled with such jerks? I mean Buotros obviously likes Avatar he told it to me straight it would be one of the best movies of the year when I thought otherwise. He was right.

The fact of the matter is Alice beat Avatar. Deal with it.

It was also nominated in Best Achievement in Cinematography (which it won) and Best Motion Picture of the Year.

I said it was going to win at least 3 oscars and it won 3 oscars! lol

Alice did make $62 million this weekend, but that's still under Avatar's $75 million second weekend. So Alice's achievement is not really that impressive at all. Especially considering Avatar's third weekend was $68 million, which is still higher than Alice's second.
