Sony - their arrogance thinking they could do the same thing since the PS2.
M$ - think their money can buy everything
Nintendo - living in their own bubble

That remains to be seen. Support from developers and price will be a huge issue here for Natal and the Arc, and it could be a complete success or failure based on these aspects. People will start expecting ports of games that the Wii had originally. Developers will see a new marketing audience out of the more expansive gaming crowd out of the 360 and PS3 rather than the casual crowd that rather buy "The Wheel of Fortune: 2010 Special edition" and "Disney's Sing it" before buying games that those who consider themselves gamers would actually buy. Chances are if these two devices are a success, then it will almost be expected that developers will willingly port their third party games to a larger fanbase. However, if they have an issue with price, quality, or both, then expect them both to be utter failures. However, don't doubt that they have a potential to hamper the sales of Nintendo Wii units.
While problems on those platforms stem off of things rather than a lack of motion control, it has a chance to bring in a new aspect to gaming on those systems. People don't buy the console for the sake of buying a console. They buy it for both games and versatility. If the presence of a port from the Wii to another console is possible, that will require Nintendo to up the bar to keep the developers working for them. Or risk losing some third party work. And once the fad passes, Nintendo will have to live off of Mario and Link in order to survive. Which don't get me wrong, will continue to sell millions over millions. But it's deffinitely bottlenecking the industry.
Oh and Pokemon. Still going to sell rediculous amounts of money.
On that note, curious to see how Monster Hunter Tri will sell.
ps3 weakness: in 3rd place, most multiplatform games look like crap in comparison to 360
microsoft weakness: no exclusives, most games are also on PC, 54.2 percent chance of RRoD
nintendo weakness: no good games, only piles of shovelware. made for children and casuals.
and before you start, i have all three and love all three in their own way. they compliment each others shortcomings.
i will always stay cold
sony needs to advertise its games more( i see them once in awhile but not as nearly as much as Microsoft and wii games )
Microsoft needs to work on the ring problem (theve done a good job on fixing them but there newer consuls should not have this problem)
wii needs more good games ( mario and zelda can only take them so far)

The presumption that it is a fad is another problem. There's no real evidence towards that.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
There's little evidence against it either. However, the biggest question is how long a casual fanbase for video games will be around for. All depends on how the next generation percives it, considering the Wii is not really for gamers in the largest demographic of those who play video games, which is 16-25 year old males. My grandmother, at the age of 75, bought the Wii because the doctor recommended it for her shoulder arthritis. Now it technically a paperweight unless the 7 and 8 year old grandkids come over to play with it.
There's no evidence for or against this being a recurring trend, but it seems like the market changes generation after generation. I can't see it staying put as is.
On a side note, props for the SWAT Kats pics. Back when cartoons were downright awesome.
MS - Should invest more in first party/put online free
Sony - Should make a successful launch/more advertising/less arrogance/manage to make profits on their consoles
Nintendo - Retard on technology and online/Needs more games using motion controls (games like Galaxy or Zelda Wii)
I don't think Nintendo don't help third parties. By publishing Dragon Quest IX and Monster Hunter 3, they are slowly understanding the problem. They MUST make third parties successful on their console, they need them.
And I think Nintendo is too far behind with Internet. I mean, they have to learn fast how to handle online service and online gaming. Where are the DLCs? Demos? Do I really need to explain them how to DON'T swim against the current?
They really needs too to not release too much accessories or add-on like the Motion Plus. Did Sony need tons of add ons like Balance Board, Motion Plus, Vitality Sensor, Wii Speak? Nope. Just the Arc. Accessories need games, so you have to bother creating games that work with the accessory or underexploit the accessory just as Wii Speak.
Microsoft: No reason to buy the console if you have a half-way decent PC.
Sony: They treat Europeans and Australians like shit.
Nintendo: The fact that there's no new Pikmin, Star Fox, or F-Zero. Other than that, I have no problems with Nintendo. If pressed, I'm upset that they won't put voice acting in Zelda, and Ocarina of Time hasn't been remade yet. If Square is thinking about FF7 (which I hate with a passion) then surely Nintendo can do Ocarina of Time.
HEY ! Every single page in this threat has been filled with M$ advertising on Final Fantasy ! X_X
I have even clicked on some of them ! >D
Muahjahahahahahahha Stupid M$ you need to lose money, i dont care if you convince me to buy the X360 O.o i will play the hard way !
MS> Dont buy things, try to create them on your own (except for viruses !)
SONY > Are you even playing your play . . . Station ?
NINTENDO > Fire Miya, get SUDA ! Miya only likes those silly games ! I need more freaky games !
