There's little evidence against it either. However, the biggest question is how long a casual fanbase for video games will be around for. All depends on how the next generation percives it, considering the Wii is not really for gamers in the largest demographic of those who play video games, which is 16-25 year old males. My grandmother, at the age of 75, bought the Wii because the doctor recommended it for her shoulder arthritis. Now it technically a paperweight unless the 7 and 8 year old grandkids come over to play with it.

There's no evidence for or against this being a recurring trend, but it seems like the market changes generation after generation. I can't see it staying put as is.
