No, I probably wouldn't. It's still a RPG, and if you hate those kind of games...... then you probably won't like Final Fantasy XIII. (despite it being excellent)
Final fantasy XIII is definitely an RPG. If you dislike RPGs, you will dislike Final Fantasy XIII. Just save up and wait for God of War 3 that will be more your type.

^this. One needs to play a game in order to be able to recommend it to others

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.
It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

graphics are just as important a part of game design as any other. Technical achievement is a critical tool to providing immersion and bringing worlds to life. Combined with art design, environmental design and proper artistic direction, graphics can make a game a far better experience. Those that say otherwise are just as ignorant as those who imply that game play doesn't matter. |
Deadly Premonition says hello.
Terrible graphics that looks like it would be home on the Dreamcast, awkard controls, yet one of the best survival horror games out there.
Skip it. Maybe you should pick up something like Mass Effect 2. It'll ease you into the core concepts of RPGs and make it alot easier to swallow because the combat is like a good 3ps. You probably dislike talking and dialog so it's good that a lot of the conversations in ME2 are short or they end with you pulling a trigger and shooting someone in the face. It's also pretty linear.
