I think it's a lot like mass effect 2 in the sense that most of the RPG part of the game is gone. At least in the case of Mass effect 2 you're left with a third person shooter with light rpg elements, but with Final Fantasy 13 what do you have left? an enhanced jrpg battlesystem. It's fun, I like it, picked up the ps3 version yesterday. That being said, its not my favorite ff ever.

Its definitely the least RPG of them all.

Yes, I think based on what you are saying, this game might be fun for you.

No, because as any reviewer will tell you this FF is a grind fest.

If all you care about it graphics, knock yourself out.

graphics are just as important a part of game design as any other. Technical achievement is a critical tool to providing immersion and bringing worlds to life. 

Combined with art design, environmental design and proper artistic direction, graphics can make a game a far better experience. Those that say otherwise are just as ignorant as those who imply that game play doesn't matter.

I'd suggest you ME2 over FFXIII, it's more shooter than anything else, with great story. Seeing your KZ avatar you might like it more. Unless you don't like playing on PC that is, since I don't expect you to have Xbox.

FFXIII will be super heavy on story, with hours and hours of cutscenes. I'd suggest you to first try some older FF game to get an idea what's the battle system like (it's different in every iterations, but might give you a hint).

You dont have to worry FF13 is very much linear and you dont have to worry bout taking too long. Since i have played the Jap version all i can say you will like, as for me FF13 is under my feet now.

THe jap studios have fallen so far in terms of game play. It feels and plays like a 10 year old game. I just look at this game compared to Fallout, Oblivion even ME 2 its just nothing compared to these games.

 

So childish and purile. It might sell by the bucketload especially in Japan but its going to be very intersting to see how this does in the key western markets, notably the US and UK which combined make up going on 40% of the total market.

 

I love my RPG and I am not buying this game and know plenty of other people who are taking the same view....
