7/10

edgy 5/10 review for FFXIII, so I don't think they're gonna enjoy GoW III either.

They didn't enjoy a JRPG, so they won't like a hack and slash?

I agree on 7/10, but that means they did enjoy it.

Edge clearly doesn't like RPG's since it gave DA:O 5/10 too.

I've allways considered 7/10 to be an average game, with nothing amazing. Reviewers give great scores too easily these days but atleast edge goes nuts with the reviewing.

I just think they have an idea of what a modern RPG should be like, both Fable 2 and Mass Effect 2 got 9's.

How the fuck does it matter what they believe a "modern RPG" should be like? Their job is to review the game based on what it is, not based on what THEY want it to be. "I want FFXIII to be like Fable II but it isn't, so I think I'll give it a 5". The very fact that you compare Final Fantasy XIII with Fable and Mass Effect shows that you're on the same boat as them.

I wasn't comparing them I was simply pointing out they don't hate all RPG's which is what you said.  They are entitled to have a view on what makes a good RPG and score anything low that doesn't make the mark.

I never said they hated all RPG's you must be reffering to someone else.

Yes - Edge is allowed to have a view on what makes a good RPG and score anything low that doesn't make the mark.

No - Edge cannot say that Western RPG's are better than Eastern RPG's and so give higher ratings to games like Mass Effect and Fable II. What those games do and what Final Fantasy XIII (JRPG's in general) does are completely different. You can't rate Final Fantasy based on what Mass Effect was like.

I can't give Killzone 2 a low score because I don't like the way the Helghast look. Sure, if the game has glitches, frame rate issues and a broken aiming system, the rating will come down. But my personal taste can't affect my review of a game. If I'm a critic who only listens to rap music, I should still be able to rate a death metal album without crying about the fact that it's not rap. The same thing with Final Fantasy. People are crying because it doesn't play like "the modern RPG". WTF??? This is not Fable, this is Final Fantasy.

I agree with most of what you say here - however taste does come in at some point. As in there will be variable preferences for how a Helghan should look. Though it would be the reviewer's job to show clearly show personal biases so that readers can see where the reviewer is going.

Edge is complete shit. Why even bother with them?

7/10, for massive button pushing

It depends... maybe they will give it a 4, just to be different, or a 10, to surprise everybody If they give it a high score, then all future PS exclusives will be rated like crap, just because they can prove that they also give exclusives a higher score

People are "crying" because it's not Final Fantasy. Now will you get on topic, if not go create your own thread instead of derailing this one, crybaby.

OT: 7/10 seems about right.

7/10

They'll give it a ten and use it as a crutch like they did with LittleBigPlanet.
