Forums - Sony - Why PS3-702?

My default PS3 name is PS3-702... what does 702 stand for?

maybe it has something to do with the first Ip that was assigned to it?
Or it was the 702nd ps3 ever made!!!

EDIT: upside down and backwards, it says ZoL. Maybe that's its name?

Mine is PS3-468! MUHAHAHAHA!!!

It's a 20 gig.. so i suppose it could be the 702nd PS3 ever made... though to me that seems farfetched.

My guess is that it's a model number or something... but I'm just wondering if anyone else knows what it is, or what number theirs originally was/is.

It could be the batch number of your PS3.

I don't think anyone on this site knows how SONY assigns PS3 default names, though i doubt the name really means anything other than what you'll see on your router.

(and keep in mind the names arn't unique so you could have a network made up of several PS3-702's :P )

I looked online and it says that it's the model number. But why that number and not another, I do not know.
