The latest patch did not free up 70MB, btw, previous versions of the OS used 96MB so a further 46MB were freed up to the current value of 50MB. Still, the "other OS" has nothing to do with it, it's the memory reserved for the PS3's OS that has been trimmed of that exact amount. I think you got the news wrong, basically.
