Sorry but MS screwed themselves with the HDD placement

never thought about this.

well , that is somewhat true with the design as it is now , but since a CABLE can be hooked upto a port on the board going to the hardrive it could be placed on say instead of the top of the unit . it could than be mounted on the side this you could shrink the board down and put the HD connected via cable .

example: had this picture handy

near top left of this picture right next to the motherboard  mounting  post whole is a SATA port for the harddrive that could put on a smaller mobo.

so it's not so much screwed, but having to change thing's arround.

not only that but the disc is photoshop and is bigger than the slot?

if they did make a slim it would be surely be a slot optical drive and would have an internal HDD

just so you know slot drive's are more expensive than trey loading drives.

So Microsoft would have to take more of a hit. but it's possible

and if it's Harddrive is internal, than the arcade unit may be retired.

A 360 slim would be a good idea. If they come up with a small, energy-efficient chipset it can work. So as long as they have a data transfer cable that allows you to transfer data from your old hard drive to the new internal one.

ps3 sales increase had a LOT more to do with the price cut than the resize imo.

Indeed, but that's why I added the part of a slight price cut for the 360. Truthfully, there's only so many price cuts the 360 can have now.

Well, I hope there are only good things to come in regards to the 360!

I don't think it will happen. The next redesign will probably be for the nextbox by whatever name.
Natal is the focus for good or bad but some cosmetic changes allowing customization might help.

Slim consoles is nothing more then a Sony Gimmick. The real reason for increased sales was the price cut not the fact it was a Slim console. And considering all PS3's were huge it wasnt a bad idea but 360's are not huge like that. So no I disagree.

P.S. Xbox sales are already competitve.
