I'm sure the PS3 will beat the 360 in others in the long run with atleast a few million, Europe has always been a Playstation zone and it is an important player in ''others''. But we shouldnt forget that what the 360 has already done there, compaied with the original xbox Microsoft is gaining a lot of ground.
Come to think of it we are in 2010 en 2005's console still has the lead over its technically more advanced sister that also has more brandpower. |
Considering the PS3 came out in 2007 there, while the 360 came out in 2005 AND the PS3 has been selling at a fatser rate while being more expensive, I'd say it's performed well.
OT: The 360 will make it there first, but by month's end the PS3 will be in front in the region.

Eh, it can go either way. PS3's made a great comeback on the slim, and has generally done pretty well with price reductions in Europe. On the hand, you also have to consider exactly where the "PlayStation" and "Xbox" brands were at the start of this generation, and weigh that against how the 360 and PS3 have actually performed. "Performed well" is very much an open question for PS3 imo.

PS3 hasn't performed well for a PlayStation, not even close when looking at it's predecessors. But when sized up against the 360, and all of the drawbacks the PS3 had due to Sony's early negligence, it has performed well.
Make sense?

Sure, but that's throwing a lot of qualifications in. I mean, I'd also say 360's "performed well" considering the hurdles it hand in terms of brand identity, pricepoint, failure rate, lack of exclusives, lack of regional management, etc.
In way, I don't think it should come as a surprise if PS3 comes in second in Europe overall. It should more be expected (or depending on perspective, 1st should've been expected even), the only real surprise would be if 360 squeaked by in end and stole it.

Oh, I'm not saying the 360 has performed poorly, in fact it's done better than anyone could have imagined, especially in 2005. But the PS3 could have totally tanked if things didn't change, and quickly. They did, now it's at least moving up and doing well. When I say 'well', I don't mean exceptional, I mean just that, a simple 'well'.
Now if it soemhow explodes after another price-cut, Arc or GT5 in Europe, THEN it's done exceptional. But for the most part, I agree. I just don't think either accomplishmet should be scoffed at and that's the impression I got from Grey21.
