you guys do realize that the quote in this article is really old right? It is placing god of war 3 release date in late 2009, and was probably written before the price cut. I'm sure if you asked the analyst the same question now he would have a much smaller number of god of war 3 buyers that don't own the system.

so basically, gow3 will sell 2mil units?
sorry but (in my opinion) it will move like 500k

1) This article is a year old... exactly... how did someone even find this to post? Consumer behavior trends that isn't short term isn't that reliable.

2) What a consumer says they plan on doing and what they do are often different.

3) They say to realize those sales it'd have to be about the same price as the 360 and Wii...  I don't think you can really say the PS3 qualifies as that yet.

As others have said, this article is about one year old. Coincidentally, the number of PS3s sold since this was written almost makes it seem like GoW3 is releasing exactly when all those buyers will have a PS3. Obviously, it's not going to work out exactly like that, but you can be pretty sure that the number of people who don't have a PS3 yet but are planning to buy GoW3 will have shrunk a lot.

This analyst must have been writing pre-Slim because he was saying GoW III will release late 2009 / early 2010. Obviously that means this analysis hasn't taken into account the slim launch and the release of GoW collection (in the USA). The Analyst is maybe picking that pricecut and GoW III would hit at a similar time (whereas Uncharted 2 and price cut hit at a similar time instead).

I'm thinking, with Slim's 5 month selling period prior to GoW III release (and a slight effect from CoW collection) that ratio will have gone down to something more like 1:7 or 1:8. On a 1 million 1st week that could still mean a 100-125K boost.

But I'm sure the analyst wasn't too far off when he first made that statement.
