only on flight sims. I can see how you can get used to it though if you play that way enough.

Y axis, always. when im at jaffa's house playing MW2 sometimes he forgets to switch it back to non-inverted after im done and then blames me for him being first blood. teehee :3
to those who say inverting is logical
if y axis is inverted, and not x, (or the other way around) then it has no logical bearing at all. You can't say they are controlling the camera, or any other point of view.
If both are inverted, then it is like controlling a camera in a 3rd person view (camera rotates up, view tilts down). Or another way to think about it (in a 1st person view), is when you move the joystick you are moving the back of you head that way. Now, this isn't 100% logical. When I "think" about moving my head to look at something, the last thing I do is think which way does the back of my head have to go. I think which direction is the item of interest (to my left?, move head left!)
So, saying those who don't invert are illogical doesn't really make sense, as it really just matters on the perspective you take. In reality, it probably has more to do with the first game you played and which way stuck.

I invert Y-axis in first person. Either using mouse or joystick.

ROTFL!!!
Y Axis for shooting, or flying planes. gotta make sure my controls are upside down for those. :D lol
| fastyxx said: i don't know how people can play games that aren't inverted on the y-axis. Basic physics - think flight controls. Pull back on the stick to go up. Push forward to dive. Makes all the sense in the world. Even pushing forward on a regular joystick to move forward is like heading down - it's as if you are falling farther into the world. |
Add me to the list of inverts of the Y. I agree with this guy too. It's not a matter of thinking what I have to do, like tell myself "look up" it's more of a natural reaction, it just feels right.
I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.
sure for planes... it actually feels wierd if it isn't inverted.... though the first time (NES top gun if I recall) it felt wierd to have the inversion.
I understand if all the axis were inverted (as when you click the screen and drag in games with free camera).... but just the Y would make me feel wierd... it's just not natural for a mouse.
Now if you use a joystick... then yeah inverted make more sense as there is a plane control mindset (i use mine for mech games).
