I'm seeing lots of defensive arguments from the PS3 owners. Its funny when a game like AW comes along to compete with the best on PS3 the arguments jump to how "technically" its not on par with GOWIII or U2. Then we can swing the argument back to Reach and how "technically" it destroys both of those PS3 games. But then the PS3 owner arguments jump to how aesthetically its not quite on par. Its a circular argument and 360 owners we will never win. Just let them have their day in the sun with graphics and we can sit back and enjoy some amazing games.

This happens back and fourth. There's not a group that's innocent.

You're right and thats why I wish someday Sony and Microsoft would team up and create a mega HD console. With Sony's hardware technical prowess combined with Microsoft's software skills it would be a ridiculous piece of machinery. Alas that will never happen so we will always have console wars.

Holy Shit....

Spoilerific but at the same time I'm too pumped with that clip. Heck that's even better than the Cronos clip Gametrailers shown.

Well... There goes my project concentration.....

I don't think I've seen a poster spout as many innaccuracies as I've seen from you. There weren't any downgrades to the visuals in HEAVY RAIN and Crytek has shown all three versions of the CryEngine 3 along with footage of the PS3 version, the version they've been boasting about.

I know they've shown the PS3 version to PS3 mags. But I also know that for the PC media they choose to show the Xbox 360 version, i'm guessing like every other dev they choose to show the version that running best at the time.

Uhm, I thought the makers of Crysis 2 were in fact boasting the PS3 capabilities?

Saw both this and Rage earlier in the year and were both significantly better on the 360. Crytek are showing the 360 version to the PC press before the PC version. It's a confidence thing.

And those games do indeed look good, but I'm feeling like you're neglecting what Heavy Rain, Gran Turismo 5 and God of War 3 are bringing to the table.

Heavy Rain got an 8.5 at IGN on the gfx area, thats less than many cross platform games, not to mention the downgrades (see sig).

And GT5 & GoW are nice, but they're not Crysis 2/Rage 360 nice. Why list games that won't be competitive in the long run?

You've killed your whole post with including GT5. That game is photorealistic, which is on the same level as Cry Engine 3 tech demos. Games that won't be competetive in the long run? God of War? You are so biased you can't see the whole industry hailing it as a new level of technological achievement?

I don't believe that Crysis 2 on consoles will look anywhere as good as on PC, there isn't a single multiplatform game that would look better on console rather than PC. These engines you've listed weren't developed for given console = multiplatform = never as good looking as top exclusives.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Not really a downgrade, both scenes are from the actual game. One from a heavily polished climax section (audition, looks 'so so' from the most part compared to other ingame sections, it's bonus material). The other a bad shot, like you can pick a bad shot from most movies (but this game has far more material than your common movie, many hours more content with several story changes, endings and events).

There are plenty of good shots to be taken, but this game looks best in motion, very lifelike. Of course the devs said they can do even better with their next game, it's their first game on the PS3.

What interests me the most is that this game is touching mature material, like investigating the murder of kids and scenes directed in a very professional manner (triggering emotions, not like having lifeless puppets as in some games).

PC Gamer Crysis 2 -  Q&A

Zezeri: Did you really cut the gameplay of the presentation from the stool?

Robert Horn: I personally do not. But this was clearly the fact that we have only seen the Xbox version. Ich erwarte einfach mehr von einem Crysis 2 auf dem PC. I just expect more from a Crysis 2 on the PC.

Christian Schlütter: We have not themselves played Crysis 2 yes.
Therefore, we can only speak of what is seen.

Chrisssi: How has it felt control on console?

Christian Schlütter: This could see right out catchy. Just the four Nanosuit features are well distributed on the Xbox buttons.

Also info from the same magazines preview

Crysis 2 is gonna be awesome. The concept, as it is described, sounds great. Subtract the usual magazine hyping blahblah and it is still really good. If the game will be anything near that, I'll be happy.

Player is referred to as Prophet by his squad mates. Camarillo doesn't confirm that he actually is it, but replies: "At least the people in New York believe that you're prophet. And there are good reasons for it."

Screens look awesome! Crysuki would probably still criticize some of the models feeling not lifelike/real but it looks quite good.

The mission was presentated on an XBOX 360 and was said to look like the game will push the graphical boundaries on all platforms.

Resolution on XBOX was 1280 x 720 with 2x multisampling AA.

The lefts from a tech demo in 2006 back when the game was multiplatform and still looking for a publisher.

That scene is in the extras / bonus section of the game. Apart from the short climax part it actually looks worse than most of the real game sections.

PS3 vs 360 sales

Its so funny when people say this crap, the game is not out , like they really know what the hell there talking about, its all opinion and mostly hype, let the game release, then we will see, if it has the balls UC2 has, I highly doubt it.

Hey Selnor, I don't care!  No amount of technical superiority can make up for the lack of  F K... in the coffee.  If Alan Wake doesn't contain any F K... in the coffee, then all your ranting about the technical superiority doesn't matter selnor.
