EA's NHL games are not on the Wii.

Oh they aren't? My bad I should do my research first.

except NHL 10 isn't on Wii...
Besides, you probably view it from the strict sim perspective like almost every reviewer does. Pretty much everyone knocked the HD versions of 2k10 because it was more arcade style than sim style. This is like saying that Forza 3 is infinitely better than DiRT 2 because Forza is a sim and DiRT is an arcade racer. Both racers are excellent games, and they each serve their own market. As for NHL 2k10, it got good reviews from those who took it for what it is.

I have played both 2K and NHL series games, I'm not saying that based on review scores or whatever. I've played them both and while 2K is a lot simpler (control wise) the EA one is a lot more realistic and you can do a lot more.
I don't know if you've played them, but I feel FROM EXPERIENCE that EA's NHL is better than 2K.
Oh and palancas7 mentioned NHL10 isn't on the Wii just before you.

This the one review that explain why the Wii outsold the HD version.
GameFocus
NHL 2K10 has the style, but unfortunately, the substance just isn’t as compelling on the Xbox 360/PS3. While the Wii has a shiny new control scheme and a drastic upgrade in content, the HD console versions are merely last year’s game with a new coat of paint. This is a game that plays it too straight and doesn’t take any risks. While it’s more polished than previous games in the series, it just isn’t bringing anything really new to the table this year
btw, the EA version is one of the most underrrated titles out there, those games are some of the best sports game out there, it's ashame it's not bigger/

Eh, a new NHL Hitz I'd actually be excited for. Too bad Midway had to go bankrupt.

I agree, NHL 10 is a damn good game. Even FIFA 10 is a bigger seller in NA than NHL 10 ffs. Americans seem to care more about soccer (I'll call it soccer to avoid confusion with american football) than Ice hockey even though the Americans are much better at Ice hockey? (if the winter olympics are any indication, they are the 2nd best in the world in ice hockey) It boggles my mind. I don't know if I'd call NHL 10 niche since it did manage to sell 710k combined in NA (I wouldn't be surprised if 200k+ came from Canada though) But for NHL 10 to be outsold by FIFA 10 in NA is probably a good indication that hockey isn't actually a top 4 league sport in America anymore.
When I get a Wii and WM Plus, I'll be sure to check out the NHL 2K series eventually. I didn't bother with it on the 360 because I heard it sucked.
That's definitely one of the more successful M+ experiments then. Good to see the game sell well based on it's unique play control. I wonder if EA will venture in to Wii hockey territory based on this?
I also wonder if Take-Two is really going to be spending two years trying to revamp their hockey title, or if this is just an attempt to save money. It would make more sense to drop a game on the consoles it can't sell on than to put a lot of money in to fighting EA for a slightly larger piece of a fairly small pie.
And damn yeah its doing well in Canada! Gold medal! Gold medal!

From far and wide, O Canada,

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Sorry, still got a bit of Olympic fever.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
I'm glad it was a hit. I saw a lot of units stocked up here, but I wasn't sure if they were actually selling. I probably would have picked up a copy if I had any shortage of games to play.
