FF X had really good voice acting as well. Just needed a better sync.

Bad news for the composers since most of those guys are really talented, however if this means they're going to outsource to other studios for voice acting, equipment, leveling, and such.... it might be for the best... They've been needing to catch up to those western studios they're emulating, cause as far as voice acting goes Square games particularly have been almost amateurish.

Best example of this is recently playing FFXII and noticing how one person would sound fine, but then the other sounded like he was talking in a hole... it did not sound like the guys were even in the same room... not what you'd expect coming from Square.

FF12 voice acting was awesome though :(

Not really putting down the voice acting itself but the production of it was not up to the standards of their music, graphics, etc.  I believe they thought how they record such amazing music how hard could voice acting be, and its a different monster in of itself.

Who are you referring to, here? Penelo is the only one I can think of offhand whose level sounded a bit weird.

Unless you mean the Judges

In which case they were, you know - wearing helmets

Yeah I agree with that. Even though the soundtrack was dull & boring for FF12, its production values were sky high.

That level of polish definetely wasn't there in the VA's

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

er... FF12 had the single best voice acting any final fantasy did. It also had the best world. The only problem was the combat and that the plot was shifted from being Basche's to being Vaans. A final fantasy with a good lead has been lost for years.

I hope Hamauzu forms his own studio. Maybe track down Matsuno. :D
