So people like terrible plot, pacing, and boring characters?
@PheonixKing, don't wanna have a huge block of text to quote so I'll just say like this. I'm aware he's saying it's not Chrono Trigger 2, and in that context; yes he's right, it doesn't star Chrono and we don't see what happens next with them. But Chrono Cross is as much of a sequel to Chrono Trigger as Final Fantasy Tactics A2 is to Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced. it takes place after Chrono Trigger. Takes place in the same planet. Even one of the main characters was in the main plot. Don't wanna call it Chrono Trigger 2, that's cool, I'll call it the spiritual sequel to Chrono Trigger as it continues the story of the continuing of the story (I was well aware of that Stellaview game that was released before this thread was made.) thus continuing the story of Chrono Trigger; albiet with different characters.

As a stand-alone game Chrono Cross is fine (not great but fine), but as a Chrono Trigger sequel it is an insult!
Signature goes here!
i hated it, is the worse sequel ever made, it killed a great franchise, chrono trigger was awesome but hey had to come up with this sh*t

Hey Listen!
One thing I don't understand is the praise that certain types of people give the soundtrack. I found it very irritating, especially that grating flute intro. It's like Mitsuda was listening to Children's television shows and Spice Girls for inspiration.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
Well, some people can't understand the concept of parallel universes. Shame on you. This game is wonderful, great, fantastic. Soundtrack is brilliant and with various tunes fom Chrono Trigger. I felt i was really on another world when listening to it.

The whole concept got thrown out the window when the MC failed to react to absolutely everything and anything that happened in the game.
Lol, terrible plot.
Chrono Cross's plot is amazing, one of the best ever written for a game (and FAR superior to Chrono Trigger's mediocre plot).
The difference between Trigger and Cross is the pacing, Trigger's pacing is SUPERB, and it is much more solid, Cross' pacing is HORRIBLE (for a third of the game you don't do anything and than in the last two hours you get one brainfuck after another).
Cross' characters aren't that good, I agree, but you can't really say that Trigger's characters are more complex, now can you.
Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.
I'd argue that yes, they are.
Chrono Trigger NEVER made a claim to be any more than it was. Ex: Crono is a just a good kid and he succeeds in his role in the game.
Chrono Cross? Serge is swirled around and the central focal point by being mediator and his father has repeatedly tried to damn him due to this and other events spiraling out of control. How does he feel? "...".
Serge is a failure, Crono wasn't until Cross was introduced and ruined everything by behing the worst game ever created in human history, selling poorly, and helping in Square's fall into a merger.
