I don't care for marriage

I do, sure you can call it a "meaningless ceremony".  However I don't think it's meaningless if you put meaning in it.

I do believe most care that's why so many are trying to get the right to get it. As for me, I don't see the point, maybe later in life I would let someone have access to half of my asset, but not yet.

Eh, that part is always iffy, but i'm talking more about the simple construct of marriage... since as stated above, I think marriage should be just that... a title and a ceremony with nothing else attached.

But what is it about marriage that messes go relationships.

Friend of mine from work been together with girlfriend for 6 years, living together too. finally gets married, I think at least $40, 000 was spent for that wedding. 6 months later, the marriage is over.

Honestly marriage probably didn't "break" the relationship.

Usually when people date for a long period of time then finally decide to get married it's because something recently has gone wrong and they hope the marriage will fix the relationship.

I am for:

gay marriage
abortion (I'm not pro-choice, I'm pro abortion.)
marijuana legalization
euthanasia
universal health care
separation of church and state

I am against:

the death penalty
the war in iraq
school vouchers

I agree with this post.

I agree too.

Anyways, I voted with a strong YES!

I'm with Mafoo strangely. The best way to deal with the situation is to remove the legal recognition of a religious institution. Make all unions equal in the eyes of the law and let the individual churches decide if they want to perform ceremonies for gays.

2 dudes (or girls) getting married doesn't affect me in any possible way, so I voted yes.

This is what I believe in :

Marriage should be a contract which is dated, such as 2 years, 5 years, 10 years. It should have an experation date which if chosen can be renewed. I also believe one must earn a license to wed, such attending couseling and help before hands.

I also believe people should be licenced to to become a parent as well.

No one loses anything with gay marriage approved. Homosexual people get access to benefits, like inheritance and social security from the partner, a right that cannot be denied because it's their will to engage in a union with their partner. Since homosexual relations are as natural (not as common, but as natural) as heterosexual, it's only natural that unions give them the same rights.

Heterosexual people don't lose anything with gay marriage, they still get the same benefits as before, their union is as valid as it was before gay marriage existed.

Therefore, gay marriage should be legal, because it gives more rights to some people who are excluded and doesn't take it from people who have them now

wow so far this is the best answer

i am gay and makes me happy to see people like you

thanks a lot to all of you guys

this made my day

Though marriage is a joke to me I say yes, but don't call it marriage. In America, I think that would be the only way to get it passed without a majority of people caring enough to vote against it.
