curious to see how GC/N64 were dying and PS3 is rising at the same point in it's life

it only does everything..go on dying one time and end up rising back. What more to come?!

Sony has taught us if you're willing to waste billions, you can be a failure with the respect of your fans.

Sega gave up and they only lost millions. Nobody respects them now.

Sony isn't a failure and many people still respect Sega.

I'd say that people respect Sega as much as they do MS, which I'm not sure is an insult or praiseworthy.

yeah, ok, I guess it works out how I meant it then lol. I think Sega and MS are very similar. I wouldn't call Sega a failure or unrespected. They have a huge following in their games lineup. Myself, when I started Bayonetta and saw that SEGA logo, I cooed. And when I played through to the end of the game I thought, "yes, this is why Sega still rules".

Sony is very much a financial failure. I wouldn't say that about their software. But ultimately this is a busniess and Sony is failing at that.

Sega... isn't the same company we used to love.

I definitely think people respect Sony and Nintendo significantly more than any other comapnies that have entered the industry, but Microsoft & Sega do have their followers.

Well considering the 360 is selling great, I would assume it has a large amount of followers. But if you jump on the internets, you would assume everyone hates MS.

Sega needs to make better use of their classic IPs. Its worked great for Nintendo.

Had this been 2006-2008, I would have agreed that Sony are "failures". In 2010, I would not.

What you feel about Sega doesn't mean nobody respects them. I, for one, still have much respect for them and love what they have to offer.

Granted console sales have gone up greatly in 2009-2010. But its still in the red and it may never make it out. Like I said, this is a business and their agenda was to make money. If you aren't accomplishing that than you're a failure.

Now the original Xbox was a huge failure as well. But it atleast created some brand recognition and a fanbase that also purchased the Xbox 360. The PS3 on the other hand chased its long time fans away with a high price. It hurt the Playstation brand in my eyes.

Sega has a gem here and there. They also have a lot of crap. They need some more quality control.

Who?

puggsly. I just explained the Networked Services division and provided examples of why the ps3 is most likely profitable and also said that people still respect Sega as much as MS, quoting him both times. I don't care though...I think it's actually entertaining when you can explain stuff to people and they go ahead and say sony is a financial failure lol. It's great fun.

Actually I thought you were giving me examples of why PS3 is most likely NOT profitable. And it made sense.

Well the 360 has sold more units than any Sega console. In fact, it might sell more units than all the Sega consoles combined. Perhaps Sega was not the huge success some people think it was.

you mean like how I said that PS3 sold much higher than expectations was linked to profit being much higher than expectations?

How does that make sense?

Everything else was level, and the only additional cost I provided is most likely offset by additional income.

Also, Sega was not a huge success...but they've been consistently noted for their talent. Just not in their console platform design.
