I won't argue that, but what was said was: Sony is not that dumb to spend all this money on technology to bring out a device that no one wants and does not work well

And noone wanted it, as VHS was "better" for the consumer

And Excellent depends on who you asked, VHS did everything better than Betamax did, the only real difference was the form factor of the cassettes :)

It was like Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD as well, that one really could have went either way as well, just Sony got a couple more studios than Toshiba, then buh bye.

BD was the better one imo, but a lot of people liked HD-DVD - as it was cheaper

First you yell BETAMAX as an example for what? "device that no one wants and does not work well"

i argued that it did work well, and you agreed.

but you sell me your opinion on why vhs was "better" as a fact, well, my opinion is that betamax was the superior format and vhs won because it was "cheaper" for the industry, and thus it was "better" for the customer. but i digress.

in your next argument you bring up HD DVD VS Bluray, the complete opposite case, where quality won over the cheaper model, regardless why that happened.

yet still i have no idea why any of this would compare to the arc, as the ark is not a system, its an accessory. neither do i believe sony has spent too much money in its development, as it is practically put together from existing technology (motion sensors from the sixaxis, and the PSeye)

but that still is besides the point, the truth is, i have no idea what you even argue about at this point, but maybe it is may fault, maybe i should have made my point clearer from the beginning:

This BETAMAX discussion is ridiculous to say the least.

Is of topic and wrong since BETAMAX was created before VHS.

In fact once held 100% of the market... VHS won because was cheaper and better even if came later.

This time ARC is coming AFTER wiimote, and is a controller, it's business model is completly diferent from proprietary data storage devices.

umm, it was not just a couple more it was all but one, and even then the one's they did have supported the move to the Blu-Ray format since 2002, there was a reason why they did it also. before HD DVD was even ready, before this whole thing even got started between Blu-ray and HD DVD .

Infact 3 year's prior, Blu-Ray as a technology was already on the market for the Consumer to purchase in asia, that was 3 year's before HD DVD even had a consumer Option. Blu-Ray was already a proven Technology.

and It was not "JUST a Sony format" from it's inception, many other companies that also make Optical drives all back in 2002 that Blu-Ray was the Direction they wanted to go. It was'nt until the Question of using (JAVA or IHD) as the control software for new CE topset boxes came into the picture that when all this started between The HD DVD format or The Blu-Ray format junk got started.
