Forums - Gaming - Creating the Perfect Game

Warning the thread will contain spoilers. Please skip the thread if you don't want to know what happened. For the rest of you brave souls, I want your help designing the greatest videogame ever. What gaming moment shocked you, awed you, or is your most memorable. Because, I bet it would be awesome to have in the perfect game.

I am going to start slow here are five awesome things taken from past games that were memorable to me and I want in my perfect game.

Warning spoiler alert- If you have not beaten Bioshock or Final Fantasy III/VI and don't want anything spoiled do not continue.

"War, War never changes!" Fallout 3 That opening tag line has to be one of the greatest of all time.

"Would you kindly?" Bioshock What an amazing twist, many developers try but few if any come up with something that awesome.

Portal Gun- Portal The inclusion of the Portal gun would allow for some amazingly complex environments and puzzles.

The Destruction of the Planet- Final Fantasy III/VI Many games have witnessed world destruction but few have done it as well or memorable as FFVI.

Dialouge tree- Mass Effect 1 & 2 sure I would love voice recognition so I can tell characters to F$%* Off etc. but Bioware systems is the best on the market.

Opening segment- Blood, blood everywhere, you look around there are bodies piled up on the floor. You wake up screaming, you look around and remember your in a holding cell. There's a knock on the door, startled you look down at your watch 11pm. Fuck can it be my last supper already. A priest walks into the room holding your food, nows your chance....

Help me out guys I need more elements and some continuation on the story.

It would help if we knew what games you're spoiling before you spoiled them.

Thanks for the suggestion I edited the post to make it clear

No need, we already have one.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

I wouldn't call it perfect but the game is fun and the multiplayer might be the best on the market.

Spoilers for CoD4 and Half-Life 2 Ep 2

Most of Deus Ex, lol. The conspiracy theories and dialogue should be right up there. Plus every decision has an impact (kinda like Mass Effect).

Shock moments to take influence from:

Call of Duty 4: The bit with the nuke and the beginning where your character gets shot after being dragged and beaten with you being helpless.

Half-Life2 Ep 2: At the end where after doing some amazing feats you're helpless and have to watch someone who is esentially your friend and mentor die with his daughter crying by his side.

Now what if we took that element from Half Life 2 and spiced it up with the "Would you Kindly?" So not only are you helpless to prevent him from dying it is your fault.

Spoilers for Super Mario Bros.

That part where you jump on the Goomba and you squish him? Yeah, I'd learn from that as well.

Simple, let Quantic Dream and Bioware work together on a project for 5 - 6 years with a $100 million budget.

Not possible. People enjoy different things, people even play games for different reasons:

-Some play to solve the most difficult puzzles,
-Some play to test their reflexes and memory in defeating the craziest challenges,
-Some play to see how a story unfolds
-Some play to relax
-Some play for exercise now
-Some play simply so they can bash other peoples tastes in games
-Some play because they want to feel badass and hardcore

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
