99 would be too high for most people. If you really want much participation something lower like 65-70 would be better, and then use level balancing to set the levels to 100 in the actual match. I may be interested. Certain rules would have to be made including no ubers (find out what Pokemon are ubers at http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/) and sleep clause (you can only sleep one enemy Pokemon at a time). Also no doubles, you can only have one of each Pokemon on a team. You'd also need to allow a lot of time for people to play their assigned matches. Maybe a week per tourney round for the two to organize a time to play each other. |
Fantastic. You know way more than I do, I see XD Would you be interested in being one of the leaders of the tournament? Like, for rules and stuff like that.
A pokemon tournament would be a lot of fun, I would be happy to participate

I feel like kicking myself in the nuts for not having a DS to participate. Ugh!
I'm in. I'm so in.
As someone above said, we'd need proper rules though - obviously, no ubers/legendaries, no Double Team, no more than one sleeping at a time, etc.
We could maybe have two tiers as well, one 'Serious Battlers' tier in which people battle at Level 100 and are serious about winning, and 'For Fun Battlers', who just train six of their favourites and are a bit less hardcore, perhaps a Level 50 rule would also help minimise the time investment for those people, too.
Great idea though. I'm killin all yooz.
I'd give it a try just for the experience.
If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba
I have an immensely powerful team on Diamond (I did not cheat to gain these Pokemon) and it will hopefully be powerful on Heart Gold. So I defiantly wish to join this tournament.
i still don't know if i'm getting the game at launch or not, but if i have it and have some decent pokemoned trained up by then, sure :)
come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76669&page=1
you can view a few screenshots from the game in my photo album here; http://www.vgchartz.com/photos/album.php?album=2312

Count me in - I'd get creamed, but it seems like it would be a lot of fun.
Here in Europe I think it realese in the end of march. It would have to be set in minimum mid of april. Also, I'm not sure if it is fair to allow pokemon from pearl and diamond although I'm not sure we can really control that.
So we would have to decide if we just do a tournament in relation with gold and silver releasing or just a normal tournament with everything allowed.
I like the idea of a very competetive group and a more relax one. This way people who just got the game won't get raped.
Also, tell me if I'm wrong but I think than in online competition all pokemons were changes to the same levels in pearl and diamond.
Anyway, I like the idea! Could be in if my online works here in Europe.
