Forums - Nintendo Discussion - VGChartz Pokémon Tournament!

So the thing is, me and a few of my friends decided yesterday to have a local Pokémon tournament a while after HeartGold and SoulSilver launch. So I got the idea, why don't we make a tournament here on VGChartz? The games have online anyway, right? This thread is mostly to gauge interest in such an event - So everyone who'd like to participate in a VGChartz Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver Tournament, please write in this thread!

Count me in, I already have my sister's DS with me, and I'm just waiting for the game to release here in europe :P

Shouldn't there be a time frame for this championship to happen? I don't know how long apart are the NA and EU release dates.

Most definitely! But I thought stuff like time frame, rules and all that would have to wait until we know how many people are interested in joining.

Ok then, I hope more people join in the mean time. I've never played in a pokemon tournament before :P

Me neither, actually, though I have no idea why I haven't since it seems like such a grand idea.

I can't wait for you guys to get smothered by Pokemon gurus like naznatips. If anything gets done, count me in.

If it were on a level playing field in terms of us starting from launch, i might be interested. Depends on level caps and such...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Like I said, I haven't set anything in stone or anything like that yet, but I just assumed the levelcap would be 99 like it is in the game, since, well, that's what I assume most people will be striving for. But I suppose a different levelcap could certainly be used if everyone wants to.

Let's do it! Like stated before me though, I'd like to know the rules first.

Currently playing: Civ 6

99 would be too high for most people. If you really want much participation something lower like 65-70 would be better, and then use level balancing to set the levels to 100 in the actual match.

I may be interested. Certain rules would have to be made including no ubers (find out what Pokemon are ubers at http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/) and sleep clause (you can only sleep one enemy Pokemon at a time). Also no doubles, you can only have one of each Pokemon on a team. You'd also need to allow a lot of time for people to play their assigned matches. Maybe a week per tourney round for the two to organize a time to play each other.
