Depends on whether or not PS4 and 720 have been announced, if they have, then sure Nintendo may announce, if not, then no

Wii will continue to lead PS3 and 360 in sales so why should Nintendo launch first



 

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

With the recession and the fact that future consoles won't have big die shrinks like we have now, he could very well be correct about the big 3 not wanting to put out new consoles so soon.

All of the previous articles of the next gen say that we could get new consoles sometime in 2012 but these were months ago, and , we really haven't heard any news or even much speculation about the next gen in a while, meaning that the big 3 could be all deciding that they will wait a few more years (2012 +2). Again, just keep in mind that pachter makes 200,000 a year, has game CEOS on speedial, and has lightning bolts shoot out of ass whenever he feels like it.

I like Pachter for entertainment value. Yeah Wii HD, that's right around the corner. Although it would be cool, I don't think so.

Pachter has just been echoing what a lot in the games industry have said about a new Wii. Dont take my word for it:

And in regards to their attempt at predicting what Nintendo will do, particularly with the Wii, how accurate have these people been since 2006 to 2010?

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

generally accurate for the most part. After people saw that the wii would be king this gen, the analysts fell in line with that. they also are saying that the wii and 360 will decline a bit the year in HW sales, or actually in total dollars of HW sold which I agree wtih.

Being an analyst isn't rocket science, and just about anybody with a top 50 degree and a MBA could get Pachter's job.
