Forums - Sony Discussion - Do you see any implications on PS3 sales, reputation, etc..because of...

Nope. Did the DRE effect PS2? RROD 360? YLOD PS3?

Around the Network

People are still buying X Boxes after the red rings so this is not going to have much of an impact.

Nope. No backlash. xbl goes down all the time and they have plenty of other problems on top of that. This is very rare for PS and it will be fixed shortly, and it might even spark some momentum for a new update that fixes other things.
Who knows, maybe the ylod will be looked into as well. Now that Sony has some spare cash, maybe they'll do a line by line look at the coding.

Nope, Sony's reputation is pretty bulletproof. Remember the PS2? Broke all the time, nobody says that Sony makes bad hardware because of it. Sony has reached that magical "can't do no wrong" plateau.

Well they are blind. If PS3s have major problems, it will hurt really badly the company in terms of sales, so they will lose money.

no the RROD fiasco didnt harm 360 sales so I cant see how this will, hopefully it will be over soon anyway

XBL is rarely ever down, stop talking garbage damage control.  You don't even have a 360 so cannot comment on the XBL situaution at all.  PSN has as many problems as XBL but this isn't even a PSN issue which makes your comments even more silly.  You obviously don't understand what YLOD is either as it cannot be resolved by anything but hardware changes (which hopefully the slim will address to a degree).

S*&t happens....and people understand that...they quickly responded and is working on it....so the answer is Nope...it won't affect their reputation

sorry but your post isn't true whatsoever.....in fact in the past 3-4 years there was only one instance where xboxlive wouldn't boot up for several hourse and MS gave everyone the Arcade game Undertow for free to make up for it.  Just saying xbl goes down on VERY rare occasions.

OT:  I doubt it but there are developers that are saying that none of their systems are working AT ALL and that this has affected development of PS3 games, if this is true and they lost information then yes this will be a massive blow to Sony

Microsoft’s XBox Live servers have suffered a major outage today, cutting off gamers world wide for at least several hours.

XBox Live went down at approximately 2pm US PST, and as of 3:30pm PST are still experiencing difficulties. Reports suggest that while users can connect to the service, games will not play, including the popular Modern Warfare 2 servers.

XBox Live’s status page stated that “users may experience difficulties connecting to Xbox LIVE” and that Microsoft is “aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue.”

Perhaps not completely unrelated, Twitter is also suffering downtime at the time of writing. Trend tracking services show that the most popular search terms at this time include “xbox live down,” “modern warfare 2 servers down,” “communication with the xbox live servers has been interrupted,” and “xbox live not working.”

Tell me, gamers. What will you do while Microsoft's Xbox Live network goes down for maintenance Tuesday?

It's up to 24 hours of offline lethargy. No "Halo" killing sprees. No "GTA" Liberty City rampages. Not online.

Wait! It's "Call of Duty: World at War" Map Pack Xbox Live Week! Bad timing.

What on earth will do you?
