Forums - Sony Discussion - Do you see any implications on PS3 sales, reputation, etc..because of...

...this whole internal clock/8001050F problem?

I mean, depending on how quickly Sony solves the issue and other things, do you see any major negative impact on Sony and the PS3...or is that quite a stretch?

If my 60GB ps3 becomes a brick. I'll buy a new slim.

Nope, Sony's reputation is pretty bulletproof. Remember the PS2? Broke all the time, nobody says that Sony makes bad hardware because of it. Sony has reached that magical "can't do no wrong" plateau.

I say no becuase the slim ps3 work fine. If the slims were having the problem then maybe.

I say no because all Slims are fine and all Phat CECHL-CECHP series 18 Million PS3s should be fine.

And I think the problem will be solved quickly via Fw Update. Trophies arent lost because they are saved on the Sony servers. Sony will loose a couple of Millions maybe 10-15 and thats it.

Lets see...

The CD drives in many PS1s were crap and some people had to play with their PS1 sitting on its side (Sony denies to this day that there ever was a problem). I've seen countless PS2s that can no longer read discs. There were the exploding batteries and rootkit fiascos. The fake reviewer they made up to trick moviegoers. There was also the Sony fake blog disaster.

Their reputation survived all that so it'll probably survive this latest disaster as well.

I think sales will go up. Once word gets out that the slims were immune to this network issue i see people taking the fats out to the field and.....

IDK but here is something to think about. The first comment they made on the situation was "we are aware of the situation" and then "slim PS3s appear to be unaffected."

That caught my attention too

Depends, most of the public is unaware of sony having issues. But the more implicated customers will consider this as yet another flaw in their system.
